Satanism ,Lets face it the "lords Prayer " has exactly the same effect which everway round you say it .
But hey He did trash the xians quite well so

His "prayers" and rituals are all a joke too. He explains the psychological benefits of ritualistic behaviour as a catharsis quite well in "The Satanic Bible".mrenutt4 wrote:But Anton wrote a prayer to Cthulhu .I get some of his Philosophy (well the anti christian stuff at least) but as a credible belief system it lacks..........everything.

I explained this to him using the relative scripture and he accepted that, but continued to blame Satan? I do believe I made him think for a moment and hence why he ignored my reasoning--why was this? Well because only God can create. If God created cancer then surely he's not as benevolent as he claims. And on even further introspection, one could blame man's' revolution in the Eden which caused the Fall--he could not accept that the cancer was his and his mums fault(and I don't blame him).Charlou wrote:Good question ...Lozzer wrote:Though the story is a myth, why have no Christians ever had this epiphany? Some christians do have this 'epiphany', or recognise the irony ... and some of those go on to lose their faith.
Those that don't have been trained, usually from a very young age, to believe these stories, literally. I'm sure that many, on some level, are in denial about what they really think, though. It's only when they heed the dissonance that the penny drops.
To be honest, I don't care. In fact I find him very interesting. It's very peculiar--nothing can contradict the 'infallible' word of God. He rejects all naturalism on this basis and the scientific evidence(or lack of) which falsifies the historical accuracy of the Jesus story. Reasoning with him is impossible, relating with him is futile. He is intelligent but does not desire real knowledge but comforting knowledge. I think he's scared he might be wrong and with the fear of hell his situation is perplexed--he knows he might be wrong but he cannot afford to accept that he is.Charlou wrote:Lozzer wrote:Consider my friend, he's a devout Evangelical Christian. I wonder if he'll ever recognise the irony of true liberation ... from the notions of God and Satan.

Exactly, incidentally he challenged me that wager the other day. It was quite humorous, when one uses that measure they openly admit(often without knowing) that they have admitted that God cannot be proven with reason--only with a gamble(which adds to the irony I must say).Charlou wrote:Sounds like he's living the perpetual Pascal's Wager
I have Baddeley's book "Lucifer Rising", a great account of the presence of Satanism in modern culture, from the Beatles to Burzum. Great read, sounds like a very clever man. How did you meet him?Xamonas Chegwé wrote:She loved sex!mrenutt4 wrote:I was lab partners with a girl brought up as a catholic, she lost her faith at an early age (about 14) but she used to cry and get angry and kick her lovers out of the house because of guilt (not me never went there) .Pretty messed up esp 'cos she Loved sex .![]()

I have a few mates that are into the whole CoS thing. I've even met Gavin Baddeley a few times (he's head of the church in the UK) and argued the nonsense of disbelieving in god but worshipping santa. His arguments were similar to those expressed here - he doesn't believe in sultana either, in fact, part of joining the church includes acknowledging that setanta doesn't exist! He is a clever bloke. I have no desire to join a church though - not even a deliberately fake one.

My mate Trev has a gothic/darkwave band - Midnight Configuration - that are very into all that Lavey stuff. He also runs a record label and used to have a shop as well. I'm not sure exactly where Trev met GB but I met him at a couple of gigs.FrigidSymphony wrote:I have Baddeley's book "Lucifer Rising", a great account of the presence of Satanism in modern culture, from the Beatles to Burzum.
