NASA Astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin rejects global warming fears.

Notorious bullshitter and windbag Al Gore recently likened AGW "deniers" to the people who deny the Apollo moon landings.

His pompous nose has been well and truly been put out of joint by two prominent astronauts, Award-Winning NASA Astronaut/Geologist and Moonwalker Jack Schmitt, formerly of the Norwegian Geological Survey and the U.S. Geological Survey, who flew on the Apollo 17 mission, and Dr. Buzz Aldrin. They both have joined the growing number of noted scientists who have "come out" and made public that they disagree with the global warming so-called "consensus".

It seems that once the log-jam was loosened, more and more scientists are finding the nerve to tell the world what they really think.

An unfortunate turn of phrase, given that Aldrin once decked a moon-landing conspiracy nut who just didn't know when to let it go.



But the report is wrong to refer to him as a scientist. That's not in his resumé. Jack Schmitt is a geologist, but Aldrin doesn't really have the authority to comment.

I can't agree with that. You don't need authority to comment, and he's got a doctorate of Science in Astronautics from MIT.

I think he got annoyed when Al Gore tried to hijack the Apollo name for his own ends. Likening global warming dissent to moon landing scepticism is taking a moronic liberty. The IPCC panel doesn't claim certainty for humans being responsible for warming. Only a statistical probability. So those who take the other view are not even disagreeing, they are actually within what is claimed by the IPCC.

Astronautics =/= climate change, or anything relevant to it. So his commentary is noteworthy mostly because of who he is, nothing more.

Nobody's saying these guys are climate scientists. But they are well qualified to evaluate the global warming arguments. It's hardly rocket science.

There's nothing in climate science that's particularly hard to get your head around.
Except how they make such confident predictions about a subject with huge unknowns, and with no track record whatsoever.
A "consensus" has never successfully predicted any kind of climate change. We can't even predict the weather more than a few weeks ahead.
I'll call it science when it has a track record. Up till then, it's speculation.

You keep saying that, but it just isn't true. They use historical natural experiments to test the models that create the predictions. They don't just keep fiddling with models until the give the results they want (as you keep saying).

Al Gore got a Nobel peace prize for his silly film. He's not a climate scientist, he's a failed politician. But schoolkids are made to watch his rubbish.

Buzz Aldrin is responding to Al Gore trying to hijack the pride that americans feel for the Apollo program. There is no similarity whatsoever.
The GW alarmists constantly trumpet the "consensus" argument, so Aldrin and others are now speaking out, making the point that there is no "consensus".
