Heard this on Bill Maher yesterday, wtf? I am sometimes lulled into thinking that humanity is finally getting over this religious bullshit way of thinking and then I hear this? Just what the world needs more muslims...on the bright side, perhaps it may mean less christians, but either way, rational thought goes out the window. The UK though? Muhammed?

That Mohammed thing was in the news, and he comments on random stuff all the time so I see nothing wrong with that.

He's a comedian first...then social critic and political commentator. I think he's pretty damn funny sometimes so I'd say he's doing a good job. He brings up some good subjects on his panel, as well as having some pretty cool guests. I enjoyed his interview with Jimmy Carter.

The crazy politicians gag he's been doing lately is quite funny too.

Well, being the political commentator that he is, I form my opinion about him based on the content of his commentary. In this instance, and in others (vaccinations, "big pharma" conspiracy crap, "alternative medicine," his undying support of Israel) he's proved to be an intellectual dullard. He used an innocuous statistic about newborn names to make some asinine comment about Islam "taking over" the West as if that's any real possibility in the next, I don't know, 100 years. As discussed in this thread, it only takes a modicum of thought to parse why the name "Mohammed," including its variants, would rank so high, and it has nothing to do with Islam taking over the West. I've found this kind of intellectual laziness come from him too many times to mention, and quite frankly, I don't care if he's a pot smoking Atheist, the guy is simply not as smart as he thinks he is and increasingly proves this as time wears on. Yes, the guy makes me chuckle every now and then; I don't deny that.

fair enough, I agree his stance on isreal is baloney and he should know better, he has also unfairly criticized Chavez (which I believe he retracted on a later show). He was also for the war in Afghanistan, BUT, unlike most political commentators, one great thing about Bill is that he generally admits when he's wrong, or has been misguided. He did so in regards to Chavez and Afghanistan. He is far and away better an more on target politically than any other "political comedian" with a weekly show though, because of that, I don't really mind that I disagree with him on a few points, I mean I don't agree 100 percent with anyone really.

It is kind of an ugly name.

I think it's an insult to a child to automatically name him Mohammed, like he has no worthy identity of his own.
