You see that wasn't so hard. :smooch:
That's what my wife said to me on our honeymoon. :lay:
“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”

John Maclean (Scottish socialist) speech from the Dock 1918.

Since it's been brought up - Herr Timonen appears to have done something of a disappearing act from RD.net...

His name is no longer at the foot of the page, and in recent talking about having events filmed and footage edited, his name is again conspicuous by its absence.

But I daren't speculate, really… :tea:

Well he could simply have been shifted to other duties for all we could tell - but the removal of his name from the site does seem a bit suspect. :tea:
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.

I read that the forums there had 80,000 members at the time it was destroyed. Is that right? If so, he threw away a huge sum of money with his actions because a forum that big with a common focus is very valuable to marketers.

About 90% of the accounts were inactive though.

What about that ginger twat?
Chalkers? He's still there. He's gone a little up in my estimation since I saw something of a better side of his person. I can't really know how much of the wankery he was responsible for…

And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.

One day he might even learn to siphon off charity funds into an untraceable offshore account rather than JUST LEAVE A MASSIVE PAPER TRAIL.

That's true of most forums.

But still, that's 80,000 potential buyers for Sam Harris' new book, for example. Speaking of which, why doesn't Rationalia have a bunch of ads for his new book? We are the natural audience.

Aha! Electricwhiteboy appears to have DETAILS. :ab:

Actually, this was pretty much my working hypothesis. Josh knew how hands off and naive Richard's management of RDFRS was, and how much Richard trusted him unconditionally. Josh was also evidently a bit of an emotionally immature, selfish narcissist. If only he could have got hands on some of teh moniez - well, it's just like the MPs dipping into the public purse, innit? Except that, you know, it's a charity and all that - and that's really not cricket...

But this also potentially lets me bask in the comfort of feeling vindicated for words I said, and not feeling so smug about having coolly said to Richard Dawkins himself that "I'll be vindicated"... :shiver:
