Stainless Steel Soap

The DEOS® stainless steel soap eliminates persistent odors which penetrate the skin while cooking. Unlike regular soap, the DEOS uses oxido-reduction, a natural property of steel, to remove strong odors in minutes: onion, garlic, fish, even nicotine. Plus the Orka® DEOS® features an embedded nail cleaner located at the tip of the teardrop-shaped steel "soap". The DEOS® is a gift that keeps on giving - ridding hands of odors use after use, while preserving hands' softness. Known for its distinctive design, the Deos® is on display at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
My house-mate has one of these. Apparently if you wash your hands with this, it's more effective at getting rid of onion smell, than soap is. Does stainless steel really get rid of odours? Is there any chemical explanation for how this might work? Or is it just another product based on an old wives' tale?
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Sounds like woo to me
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Deja Vu (again)
No it works esp on Garlic smelling hands mind you so does a stainless steel scrubbing pad and they cost loads less .

I shall pose the question I did originally (Today is all a repeat it seems ) should you use stainless knives and pans when cooking garlic ...does it take away the flavour ?

Well done DEOS.
You created a problem and then you provided a solution to that problem.

My sink is stainless steel, I'll just rub my hands all over it in the future.
