Ever heard of alive magazine?

Post by daleof » Sun Sep 12, 2010 11:21 am

It's hilarious. http://www.alive.ie/

When I was living in Maynooth I used to get them free through the door and I started collecting them. A big steaming dollop of reactionary, right-wing Irish Catholicism delivered straight to your door!

The archive is here. http://www.alive.ie/archives.php ENJOY!

Yeah. The bastards shove it in my letterbox every month.
I swear I'll catch them at it someday and they won't dare come to my door again.

Science shows religion makes people happier
Oh, the blissful ignorance! I knew an old lady that lived to 104. People wondered what helped to live that long. My answer, no care in the world, (including not giving a shit even about her own kids and grandkids), and thanking Jesus for her life. :ab: :ab: I guess a person can be happy if they're delusional enough.

 I assume that the back catalogue doesn't get any more original than that?
In the best laid plans of history lie the ruins of the past
And a chronicle of suffering shows the mythic pall they cast
To believe is true religion, but to see is truth at last
Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

Heh. I imagine its just as dull as the JW propaganda, which I have personally read. In summary, they read like a creationists' songsheet, and insult the reader's intelligence.

Yup, correct on all counts. So you don't need to even go near it now, capiche? :smoke:

Thought so. Believers are nothing if not predictable. My gran's a recovering JW (still sorta believes but never attends). Thankfully mum's an apathetic deist (probably with christian leanings). I have nobody to blame for my Christian days but myself. Fortunately I think too much for it to have stuck.
