I heard Machete is actually pretty good. Lots of big stars, etc. But, blud, guts, violence and topless Lindsey Lohans with weapons tend to turn off She Who Must Be Obeyed. But, then again, it is my turn to choose.....Animavore wrote:What about Machete?Coito ergo sum wrote:That may be a good call.... that'll learn 'er to suggest introspective, self-examination chick flicks!Gawdzilla wrote:The new Resident Evil flick.Coito ergo sum wrote:O.k. - I saw that movie Eat, Pray Love a week or so ago, so now She Who Must Be Obeyed can probably be persuaded to see a non-chick-flick movie. Any suggestions?
That'll really fuckin' teach her.
Out today. Resident Evil isn't out 'til next week.

Gee. I thought you were out for real revenge. If I was brought to see a chick flick I would be out to find the manliest film I could.Coito ergo sum wrote:I heard Machete is actually pretty good. Just watched this.

With all the quotes on the poster saying funny like that you would be let to believe this film was super funny.
More realistically, you take one of those "Funny"s and the rest is the same opinion multiple times.
It's not laugh-out-loud funny, well, once or twice, but not as funny as other Chris Moyle stuff. But it's still a good film about a bunch of incredibly naive Muslim men who set out to start Jihad. They have no leadership, skills or direction. It's not even sure why they are doing it. Some tribalistic instinct? Misplaced honour?
The characters are made sympathetic so right-wingers will probably hate it. But it is in no way glorified.
Worth a watch,

That would be "The Expendables". Really, that's what the trailer says.Animavore wrote:Gee. I thought you were out for real revenge. If I was brought to see a chick flick I would be out to find the manliest film I could.

That too. If you haven't seen that one, Cogito, that's a bit of a laugh.Gawdzilla wrote:That would be "The Expendables". Really, that's what the trailer says.Animavore wrote:Gee. I just presumed you'd seen it already.

I saw it on Everyone Draw Mohammed day (coincidentally). I really liked it. It was far less funny than it was billed to be, but only because there was a lot of quite dark, serious stuff going on, in and around the humour. The little touches with the guys kid being really proud of him for being a martyr and him trying to explain martyrdom to his kid were both funny and serious at the same time. It was an interesting mix of the two throughout.Animavore wrote:Just watched this.

Seen it millions of times, and love it every time.
Two of my favourite movies ever. Twin town because it's just funny, Pale Rider because it's Clint's best western besides The Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven but kicks more ass than either of them.leo-rcc wrote:The Pale Rider. Clint Eastwood as the preacher.

Just watched Pandorum. Pretty decent sci-fi/horror/actioner.
Storyline was alright, couple of things I didn't expect, couple of things I did, couple of narrative devices for the not-so-bright i could've done without.
All-in-all, worth a watch. It's like a mix between Event Horizon (but not shit) and the whole Reaper scene from Serenity.
Just don't scrutinize the science and you'll be fine.

Just watched Robin Hood, absolute bollox. I despise Kevin Costner but in relation to this abortion of a movie his version was Godlike. There was nothing redeemable about this bucket of shit, it was horrid, my only joy is that I did not actually pay for it but I pirated it. Never have my illegal activities felt so justified. Seriously shitttttt!!!!!

Robert Rodriguez directs a film based on the legendary faux trailer of the same name that he made for his half of the Grindhouse collaboration with Quentin Tarantino. Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin and Steven Segal. Not enough for you? How about Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and Lindsey Lohan? Still not enough for you? Four different women in the film get completely naked, including Alba and Lohan, whose character cavorts around with her own naked mother for the middle third of the film. Fun, gory, longer than it needed to be, and funny.

Sounds good! I want to see it.
