Two great things together!
If only it had cheese as well... :tea:
What variety would go best with Empire-era brains? :hum:
I think a sharp, crumbly cheshire might be apposite. Or maybe a creamy Caerphilly. Of course, Stilton pretty much goes with anything but I would say a white rather than a blue, which might overpower the more subtle flavours of early 19th century grey-matter.

A Lancashire Sir? A Lancashire? While a fine cheese and no mistake, I believe that you will find its flavour a tad overpowering for an accompaniment to fresh, raw brains - were the brains to be cooked mind, with said cheese adorning its surface, then I might well tend towards agreement and, as they say in these parts... nom nom nom!

Perhaps, my good man, if they were the brains of some damn frenchman then I would concur, that our hardy north western cheese would, no doubt, as you say, overpower the taste. However, good honest, English, brains, fullsome of flavour and stout of fettle could only be enhanced with a mature cheese of flavour, sir.

Ahh... I may have been remiss in not offering Port as the accompaniment to the frontal lobe and fromage banquet. :food: :td:

That you would even suggest the idea of dining upon French brains shows your lack of breeding Sir. Must I remind you that there are ladies present!

I find this deeply offensive, as if Jane's been tortured, raped, strung up naked to let the vultures pick out her eyeballs and peck out her entrails. :dq: :nono: ;)

must everything be sullied, is nothing sacred? Now I know how Republicans feel when the rest of the world makes fun of Rush Limbaugh.

It’s absolutely tasteless, I'm horrified by the whole thing. I'm reminded of my first experience with fan fiction, having no idea what (or who) was coming, I started reading a story about Captain Picard and Wesley....

well, birthday present dilemma solved for one person at least. ;)

My uncle sent me a report yesterday saying this book is great... I was hoping to get it for my birthday, but as I didn't I'll have to go get myself a copy now, as I'm dying to read it. :read:

I'm half way through. I love it.

In places, it's very subtle, in others very overt. I think it's a fantastic idea and I hope they do more. "Sense and Sensibility and Vampires" perhaps, or "Oliver Twist and the Werewolf".
