I'm going to bed and will refrain from voting due to lack of compelling evidence. Random guess of 2/11 is not worth it. Good night.

Re: Boy Band Mafia Day 1
Mayor strategies. The two I've seen in play the most often are these:
- Pick a mayor who is easy to read and not a strong player. i.e., not dangerous and not a great loss if night killed. Then if the seer is dead on night 1 or there is no seer, town should be able to figure the mayor out without too much difficulty. This kind of mayor has a fairly low impact on game strategy.
- Pick a mayor who is difficult to read and a strong player. i.e., dangerous if scum and valuable if town. Town and scum will build their strategy round the mayor in this case. The seer will probably view the mayor on night 1, and the doctor will probably protect the mayor on either night 1 or night 2. If the mayor is town, then scum have to figure out whether to go after the mayor on night 1 (and risk their target being protected) or go special-hunting that night. And the mayor *might* get by two nights without being killed if scum decide not to play chicken with the doctor/bodyguard. If the mayor is scum, then town will become increasingly suspicious of the mayor, especially if still alive on day 3. by day 4, the mayor is toast either way. Sometimes scum will leave a strong mayor in place because he/she will be an easy lynch later in the game, which means a scum player won't get lynched instead.
The day 3 and day 4 strategies probably won't apply in this game because we'll be near endgame by then.
I seldom vote for mayor, and I won't vote for a mayor in this game. Here's why: If I vote for myself, you should rightly suspect that I am the don and I'm trying to get viewed early and have town's trust. If I vote for someone else, you should rightly suspect that I'm trying to avoid being viewed because I won't view as town.
Once someone is in the running for mayor, any preference for or against is a potential tell about their willingness to be viewed.

I'm going with my gut again. It served me well before. Something just seems a little odd about the posts.

How many times does one have to play here before this let's-all-lynch-the-stranger routine stops being fun for you?
It's no wonder the games here are going down the pan if this is how you treat new players.
Fuck this shit. Really, fuck it.

2 votes does not a lynch make. It's nothing personal, and it's very early in the game. Nothing happens in mafia until someone votes.Budskiboo wrote:How many times does one have to play here before this let's-all-lynch-the-stranger routine stops being fun for you?

I can't explain it. It's my gut. It served me well last game. I'm going to follow it again.oblivion wrote:What is the suss behavior?Animavore wrote:Vote Budskiboo for suss behaviour.

You beat me to it :/
I don't think it's a great idea to go on gut instinct, even less to accuse people based on it. Especially if you don't want to get lynched.
Thanks for the insight, Oblivion.

I didn't follow your vote. Something about the way Bud's first post was written raised a red-flag. It was like there was too much trying in it.oblivion wrote:Well, then. I had something similar with Mantis in the last game.
FOS me all you want though. I'm not worried.
Who was it who correctly FOS'd Mantis last game again?Feral_Punctuation wrote:I don't think it's a great idea to go on gut instinct,

That's all I wanted. A reason. No-one's going to trust your "gut instinct" just because you got it right once. I hope they don't, at least.Animavore wrote:It was like there was too much trying in it.
No, It's only the first day, so I'm not even gonna try and FOS anyone for being absent. I don't know his schedule.

That goes double when you don't know the person's alignment.
Re: Boy Band Mafia Day 1
I'm going to Unvote out of fairness. I don't want to seem to be picking on the newbie and Bud is making me feel bad.
I would urge town to at least try vote someone. We can't afford any non-vote nights, even if a wrong vote is worse. Short games like this need fast action.

If there are no votes a random person is picked, aren't they?
