Huge big gargantuan test on the 26th+special thanks

Post by Dory » Fri Aug 20, 2010 7:08 pm

Monstrous.

I've sent tons of emails and spoken to numerous individuals in the university to procure a special permission to take it 2 months ago. Why special permission? Because it's the same fucking course I took nearly 2 years ago, when I was a male, and miserably failed. Miserably. So, I had to get special permission to take the test without having to retake the course (which would also postpone the test in a few months). After tons of arguments, I got the bigwigs of the university and they gave me a permission (-160 Shekels test fee)

Now I've been scanning the textbook like crazy.

It's General Biology A. A huge focus on basic biology (basic biochem, proteins/enzymes, photosyn, cell respiration), genetics, DNA+RNA, evolution and diversity of organisms). I've been cramming it like crazy. LIKE.CRAZY. I even extrapolated to General Biology B book since I had so much time (and enthusiasm) on my hand!

I've been pretty much building up my life to that moment. This is gonna be a defining moment for me. I am shedding tears just thinking about this test. I live and breath the material. I know it. I got it covered. Still, I fear. I don't know what, but I fear. I fear of the unknown. There's just so much material in that book, and even though I've basically spent my life in the last 2 months cramming it, I remain itchy. Wish, me, well.

You're a sweetheart kik :) Thanks. This clip is more intended for the people who post at this section of the forum. GFL just came up in my head since he's a central figure here and helped to prep me up a bit. For any other general "thanks rationalia" topic, you and mai are my lovers and are first on my thanks list.

You still have a few male traits, Dory. Like exaggerating the size of the thing. :hehe:

Heh. No, but it's pretty big, in my mind...in the way that it can affect me.

Listen Dory, a few words of advice.

1) No need to be nervous at all, fear won't make you learn more and certainly won't help you do well.
2) Be confident in your ability to think, if you so much are aware of how to deduce stuff from basic principles you'll go a long way off
3) Try and be nonchalant during the exam itself, don't think about what is going on other than the questions you're answering.

And finally, as far as the thank you is concerned, I have this to say

Good luck to you, Dory , everything will be fine, just hold your nerve :hugs:

Thanks Genes. :hugs: Good tips. Definitely should shake off some of the excitement....I think though it may have the potential to help me as long as it spurs me to reopen the book a 1000 times over.

Does the book come with summaries? have you highlighted stuff?

If so, read the chapter summary once and the highlighted stuff once, most of the book will be full of useless text anyway.

That is very true, size can be deceiving. Yes, I highlighted tons of stuff. I know this book pretty much by heart :P Where everything is and what's important to remember. I even know the stuff less important to remember. I think if I read it anymore I'll have read it more than R. Patterson read the Bible... :P But still, is there more to just reading the material? Like you see, breaking things down to logical patterns and nitty-gritties. I hope I have it in me. If I don't, at least I got the entire book in my head!

Good luck, and treat the exam with contempt. It always worked for me.
Stops the brain locking up. ( and I really didn't care at the time ).
