Just watched Shaun of the Dead last night. Fucking brilliant from start to finish. An astonishing piece of filmmaking

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Yep. Yawnsville. Don't bother with it.

The Avatar cartoon isn't so bad.

I like it, though 4 seasons in it gets a bit of a drag.

I like it. I have them all on DVD. Though I agree it does get a bit samey after a while.

I thought there were only 3 seasons?

Actually I'm just watching episode 14 now. If you like the cartoon you'll hate the film even more.

I just checked, you are right, 3 seasons.

It just felt like 4. :D

I saw it on Friday. I would give it a 7/10 or B+. Some things worth going for:

If you liked Stallone's last two films, you'll like this one. It is the spiritual and visceral successor to them.

Mickey Rourke. He's actually given the job of only acting, and he re-visits The Wrestler in a monologue that deserves a special award.

The photography. Which totally caught me off guard. I did not go into this film thinking "I hope it looks gorgeous". It does. Don't see it at a shit theater.

The sound engineering is phenomenal. There will be something sadly missing for viewers who see it on a 2-speaker TV, or an airplane, or similar.

The chemistry between Stallone and Statham.

In a way, this film is the opposite of The A-Team. The A-Team want to be free men who can use their skills and have fun. The Expendables are a bunch of guys who have each lost their soul somehow, and are trying to get it back. Stallone only writes about this theme nowadays. Both Rambo 4 and Rocky 6 were about the same damn thing. But it's a powerful theme. You're definitely better with your comrades beside you, but even when you're surrounded by people, your journey to redemption is something that you're doing all alone.

I think I would have preferred to have seen it in 2D, as I think the 3D experience didn't add anything to the film and actually distracted me from the dialogue (which was mostly very good, particularly Helena Bonham Carter's stuff). I was really impressed with the CGI, possibly the best I've ever seen, but it felt as if several scenes were put in simply to show off the 3D effects, which is a really bad idea. I was disappointed that Tim Burton would stoop so low as to put in such visual fluff.
I watched this film yesterday. Worst Burton movie I have seen. The charachters were 2D and dead, the plot never got anywhere and the FX were basically the whole movie.

I saw Men Who Stare at Goats last night. It made me laugh a lot, though I had had three pints before I watched it. :hehe:

Star Trek - Better than I was expecting really. I found it pretty fun to watch.
