Now, see, I love my helicopter missions.

Except that one mission where you had to hijack the 'copter and blow up the boats, that took me ages.

The big boat was easy, it is getting those small boats after the big boat sank. In the end I just killed the bad guys on land.

I was unable to finish my second play-through of Fallout 3. I seem to have fucked things up by getting Fawkes (now that I knew where he was) and, as a consequence, getting the G.E.C.K. early on. I wasn't able to complete the mission where I help my father at the Jefferson Memorial. I couldn't get down that grate to get to the water valve. I talk to my father over the intercom, and he says he can't help me because he has no idea where I am :ddpan: And the prompt at the grate says I need a lockpick ability of 100 to get through it, and my lockpick is at 98 :ddpan:
The blue force fields are up around the place, too, as if the very last mission with the giant robot were already triggered. Except I can't even get into the fortress, or whatever it's called. I've been trying to get in there because I wanted power armor. But I can't get in there for a mission, much less the power armor.
One place I could never figure out how to get into was...well I can't remember the name. Gut it was guarded by guys in power armor. I gave one of them a shitload of laser rifles. He likes me now. But he still won't let me into the place he's guarding :ddpan: Maybe if I were wearing power armor he'd let me in? I dunno. But I picked the lock to the place and ran in, just to see what was in there. There appeared to be quite a lot in there. But I was killed pretty quickly, so I don't know precisely what :ddpan:

Anyway, so I just put in the new Final Fantasy game. Stunning graphics. I hate the camera :ddpan: And I have no idea what I'm doing :ddpan: In battle, I just press "X" repeatedly. It seems to have worked so far. I'm meant to select certain things, though, if I want to fight properly, and I need to select a certain thing if I want to use a potion. Only problem is, the printing on the things I'm supposed to select are so fucking small that I can't read them :ddpan:
So...frustration.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Just got Splinter Cell: Conviction. Enjoyable. I love stealth games; planning and executing something without a glitch. But in SC:C, I even managed to enjoy it when I didn't do it perfectly, which was a nice change. It was slightly more action-focused than previous versions in the series, but you still couldn't play it like a shooter. It was good that they tried something different as well.

I think you're talking about the Brotherhood of Steel Rebel HQ (or similar), tattchu. There's nothing in there, if IRC. You should visit the upper right corner of the map, though. There's an awesome place there :) F3s probably one of my favourite games. I liked the amount of choice you get in it, compared to other games, other RPGs, even. The closest competitor (other than earlier Fallout games) is probably Mass Effect, but the RPG elements aren't as... hardcore, especially in ME2, which was disappointing. That one was almost divided in to levels, whereas an open world always seemed more suited to RPGs, to me. There was less freedom, as well. You can't kill innocents, let alone quest-givers, and the whole things seemed much more scripted than was possible in F3. It was a great game, just... different :P

(fake) EDIT: Oh, Oblivion. But that was basically Fallout with swords.

By the way, are there any MP games you meet up on?

Actually, Fallout 3 is TES:IV With Guns.

Oblivion is actually a much better 'open world' game than Fallout 3 - it's more casual, but at the same time more immersive.

Yeah, I meant that more as a joke, because people always described F3 as TES:IV With Guns, so I thought I'd reverse it. I think what made the difference for me was the theme. F3 seemed more polished as well, nothing seemed particularly overpowered and I liked V.A.T.S.

I ended up getting in there. I talked to the guard and he said because I'd given him plenty of laser rifles and shit that he'd see to it that all the guys were cool with me (although I could swear I already did this). I still had to pick the lock to get in, but nobody shot at me once I was in there. There did end up being a lot of stuff in one of the rooms in the lower level. Which was nice I guess. Except I have so much guns and ammo at this point that it hardly matters.
And I had to quit the game anyway since I was stuck in the Jefferson Memorial building. Nothing was happening inside. But I was locked in and couldn't get out. Kinda pissed me off, but oh well.

What's an MP game? Multi-player? Naw, I don't do that. I prefer to play with myself. I mean, er...well, yeah :dono:

I'm playing the new Final Fantasy now. The graphics are astonishing, the characters are great, interesting story, etc. After being able to roam freely in FFXII, though, it's very frustrating being confined to a very narrow set path. Also I have no fucking idea what I'm doing. I've managed to stumble through blindly up until now. But I've reached a big boss battle that I can't get past. I keep getting my ass handed to me, and I don't know how to fight effectively.
One thing I'm wondering about, if anyone has played this game and can give me advice. All the items I pick up (sometimes in the spheres, mostly dropped in battle)...should I keep them or sell them? I don't want to get rid of them if I'll need them later on to synthesize stuff. But, shit, it'd sure be nice to sell them so I can buy some decent accessories

Eh heh heh heh...

Finished that game something mighty.

Hint: The starting weapons are stronger than they appear if you're willing to sink all your cash in to them.

This is a load of codswallop. I spent the last hour trying to find the right controls.
The default would be perfect except you have to hold down L3 really hard to run instead of just clicking it and holding it lightly like any other game. Ease up on it at all and he suddenly stops running. Its too awkward to hold it firmly and I don't want to damage the joypad.
The other options have completely different arrangements. I don't see why there is no custom controls, I could just switch X and L3 so X is now run and L3 reload and everything else is the same.

Nah it was ok in the end. I realised X is also run on the default when used in conjunction with a direction. So I don't have to use the stick.
I getting into it now. It's rather tasty.
