About all I've gotten to watch the last few years are:

Doctor Who
Torchwood
IT Crowd
Coupling
QI

But I am eleven timezones away, and in a place where the extended cable selection just means a dozen more channels of surfing coverage.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned QI.

Chris Morris is amazing.
Seconded... everything the man touches turns to gold... Jam's one of the biggest mind fucks ever.

Monty Python's Flying Circus is yet to be topped, I feel... add to that things like Spaced, The Thick of It, Screen wipe if you want to be a bit meta, etc etc.

Armando Ianucci. Time Trumpet, The Day Today (as already mentioned), The Thick of It and presumably everything else with him as well.

I can't believe it made it to the tenth post without these

I am an American though. But from my opinion those are the top two, and then add (in no particular order though I could probably make one if you forced me)

Bottom
Red Dwarf
Monty Python's Flying Circus (duh)
Coupling
Extras
Jeeves and Wooster
Bit of Fry and Laurie
(okay yeah I have a thing for Hugh Laurie)
New Statesman
(and Rik Mayall)
Fawlty Towers
Absolutely Fabulous
Vicar of Dibley

One's I still really need to see include "I, Claudius", "Life on Mars" and "The Singing Detective".

And The Glam Metal Detectives. Watch it. You'll be so very grateful.

I won't bother posting my list of faves, they've mostly been covered. Instead I'll post something that most people won't have even heard of....

One show that really should be shit, but I loved watching was Mechannibals. It was on Dave or something, and like a cross between Scrapheap Challenge, Robot Wars and Cash in the Attic. The premise, two families that live nearby get given a task, they have to make a machine to perform this task using only items found in their house. They would rip apart their own washing machines, dryers, bikes, water tanks, kids' toys, etc. to make Heath Robinson contraptions. The most shocking part.... the losers get the booby prize, a toolbox to fix their destroyed house. The winners get new things to replace all the things they cannibalised.

if you ever see it on, watch it, it's funny as fuck.

The first one is the good one. The second fell apart. I'm not sure why. It went from surreal comedy to yucky love mush :ani:

I've had a quick look and there appear to be torrents available.
