Re: The Invention of Lying
I read the plot on wikipedia.. if that helps.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."

Yep, I saw it at the movies.
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Very middle of the road stuff. Not particularly funny. More rom than com.

Re: The Invention of Lying
It is interesting to note that before lying in the movie, there was no concept of god or religion. Almost as if....

Re: The Invention of Lying
I've never seen a Ricky Gervais film that can match the quality of his TV.

No this doesn't but he is very much like his Extras character and there are a lot of cool cameos in this film..

Re: The Invention of Lying
Never heard of it
A wry case for atheism, The Invention of Lying would have sent many Americans into an uproar if anyone had bothered to see it.
Sounds interesting. Some reviews I just skimmed all seem to agree that it's a little lightweight, not as funny as it could have been, and doesn't reach its potential. But all seem to agree it's a pleasant enough affair with a lot of good moments, and the star is enjoyable if you generally like him. I'm actually not familiar with Ricky Gervais, so for me it should be a treat. Apparently his TV roles are much better, but I've never seen any of those, so that won't put me off.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Just added it to my amazon.com cart. I see it's also got Louis C.K. in it

Re: The Invention of Lying
A cute premise, though they could have done more with it I think. It didn't seem to use Ricky Gervais's talents as much as it could have. It was entertaining though and a worthwhile watch.

Re: The Invention of Lying
I watched it a few weeks ago! Loved it! I was actually just telling a friend about it last night! A Christian friend. I hope she watches it.

We danced.
