Welcome to any new members from this point onwards...

Post by cowiz » Tue Jul 06, 2010 9:21 pm

Rather than have to respond to each new member individually, I am posting a blanket welcome to anyone who registers as a member from this point forward.

Welcome

Job done
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Why on earth would someone bother to register if they never log on?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

They're like those people who buy up domain names for no good reason, except they're taking up perfectly good usernames... Unless they sobered up and decided that those usernames were shite and re-registered under better (or worse) ones.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
