I've played Red Dead Redemption for a few weeks and I am disappointed. No where near as good as I hoped it would be.

I have this and the new Final Fantasy. I may start one or the other. I'm bored with Fallout 3. I can't level anymore, apparently, and I'm sick of wandering around just to encounter the same old things in only very slight variations, and fighting enemies in tiresome repetitive waves for absolutely no reason (now that I've topped off on the levelling up). This game started out annoying as hell, get to be tolerable once I'd levelled up a bit, and then switched to kinda fun. But now that I can't level up anymore, my incentive to continue on has evaporated

Just finished GTA IV: Episodes of Liberty City.

"The Ballad of Gay Tony" and "The Lost and the Damned"


I must admit, neither of them have the same charisma as the original, and neither Luis or Johnny have the same charm as Niko as a character. They have a couple of new features, such as the Parachute in TBoGT, or the ability to call backup in TLatD, but neither of these seem to be interesting enough to keep you there. The games aren't paced nearly half as well, and while GTA IV took me about a week to finish, both TBoGT and TLatD took four days for both of them, switching between one and the other when I got bored.
It was interesting seeing certain parts of the stories from different perspectives, and characters you hated - like Johnny - when playing the Original suddenly became someone you empathised with and understood.

All that's left now is to get, play and complete Red Dead Redemption.

I have GTA IV but could never get into it. I loved the PS2 games, even the PSP ports, but I just couldn't get past the camera issues in IV. I was very frustrated with San Andreas for the same reason, but could still work my way through it. Not so with IV. The problem is that I can't get a view while driving that I feel comfortable with. I can't see where the fuck I'm going. I actually gave up on IV, and I very very rarely give up on any video game once I've started it.
I have Red Dead Redemption but haven't opened it yet. I finally finished Fallout 3 and would like to get something productive done this week. If I were to start a new game, there would be no chance of that.

Speaking of Fallout 3...so, um, that's it? I die at the end, and that's that? Did I start the water purifier or what? Fawkes was with me. Why couldn't I send him into the chamber? He likes radiation. And what the fuck is up with Dogmeat? He was a zombie for the last few hours of the game. First he disappeared. Where the fuck did he go? Then he turned up dead in a corridor I hadn't even explored yet. WTF? He couldn't have been low on health because we hadn't even been fighting anybody. And how the hell did he end up ahead of me through a sealed door? Then when I exited the area I was in, there he was again, but laying on his side panting. I gave him a Stimpack but it didn't help. So I left him there. Ten minutes later I get the message he's died. But then when I enter another area, there he is again. But, again, not fully dead or alive, but somewhere in between. And then this went on for the rest of the game. Every time I entered a new area, I'd trip over a comatose Dogmeat. But then inexplicably, there he was at the very end in the last scene, right as rain. Fat lot of good it did me, and the cool laser pistol I picked up from the dude I just wasted...because then I died

They fixed it with the Broken Steel DLC - ten new levels, new perks, and the ability to keep playing after you start the purifier.
And a whole new quest to go along with it, along with new items and new locations and new enemies.

If you're bored, you might want to think about picking up Point Lookout and Broken Steel, possibly even the Pitt. They really add a hell of a lot to the game. Point Lookout in particular is amazing. There's a fourth one, but I don't think Mothership Zeta is available to you though.

As for Dogmeat, it's a glitch. I never had it on the 360 or on the PC version. Get a patch, or if you're using the PS3 version, lol you asked for it.

Is it just with the PS3? Because, dude, this game was glitchy as hell. Froze up on me lots of times and shit.
I found a Game of the Year version of the game for PS3, with all the extra stuff. Has everything. But reviewers at amazon are saying...you guessed it...it's glitchy as hell
I would like to play the game again in this more comprehensive version, though. One thing I missed was the 4th super mutant behemoth. My friend at work who played the game said there are four of them. I only found three

The PC and 360 are still glitchy, but nowhere near on the same level as the PS3 version. Don't ever get a ported game for the PS3, the PS3 is a bitch fuck of a system when it comes to porting. Best to stick with games either which were originally released for the PS3 (along with other consoles/platforms) or the PS3 exclusives.


As for driving in GTA IV, I don't see how you can have difficulty seeing where you're going. Care to elaborate? There are four camera angles, two of which are a little clumsy (Action Cam and First-person), but the other two are pretty standard views for any driving game.

I'll have to try GTA IV again. It's been quite a while, so my memory is hazy. But in San Andreas, I thought the camera was too low, if I recall, and more so in IV, so I couldn't see what was ahead of me as I drove. Also had trouble in IV seeing where I was going as I went around corners. I'm pretty sure I tried the different views, but didn't find any to my liking. I'm always a little frustrated when I first start a game as learn and become accustomed to the controls. Eventually I'll get the hang of things. But with GTA IV, I just couldn't get past this initial hurdle

360 are still glitchy, .

One glitch that despite several versions being released of 360 is that sometimes it wont read the game and will say open tray. I use a combination of putting DVD in instead of a game (that works believe it or not not always but most of the time) switching the power on and off and the onslow method (take game out and hit the console )

On many occasions he watches horse racing, and one of the repeated elements of comedy is his method of operating his ancient TV set by banging on it.

It is, for 3 seconds and then it reverts to the same angle. Which is particularly annoying when driving a fire-truck.

I don't get that problem on the pc. Are you changing view modes as well?

I too just finished EFLC. TLAD left me a little underwhelmed, and the story was too short, but then the whole biker culture thing leaves me cold anyway. It was fun so far as it went, but I didn't find anyone in the game particularly interesting.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed TBOGT. The characters were better (especially Yusuf Amir and Mori Kibbutz), the plot was better, the weapons were better (I ♥ my shotgun with explosive shells) and some of the missions, especially later on, bear comparison with the better missions of GTA IV. There was also a bit more of the old humour that was missing from both GTA IV and TLAD.

The Humour in GTA IV was 'ambiance' - all the radio stations, advertisements, oneliners Niko would pop out when you hijacked someone.
It was recycled in TLAD and TBoGT, not quite as funny the umpteenth time around.


TBoGT had one massive flaw - Helicopter missions.
