... I just switched over to this from the tennis, to see a tank battle that is
supposedly taking place in the depths of winter in northern Europe.
I don't know whether to laugh

or cry
And don't get me started on the tanks themselves, or the actual conduct of the battle.

It looks like Sicily or North Africa in summer, not some Belgian forest in December. :I-love-pork:
But it was made in 1965.

There is no trace of snow at all in the film's major tank battle scene. Nor were some battle scenes fought in flat and bare territory, considering the mountainous, and forested and grassy nature of the Ardennes. The film was shot on location in Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range and Madrid, Spain.

The film also has a current IMDB ranking of 6.7, which is about, oh, 6.6 too high.

You heard it from Da Man.
EDIT: Maybe time for a remake? I'm all for remakes when the original is, well, shit.

Are there any good films depicting the battle of Kusrk? - Someone must have made one, surely?

Pity that. - You'd think the most awesome series of armoured battles and most expensive day in terms of aerial warfare ever would get a mention.
Maybe it would be too expensive to make or something...

"Cross of Iron" may have something in it about Kursk, but just as a subplot.
The Eastern Front doesn't get much air time in the West. "Enemy at the Gates" helped that somewhat.
