Simple Mafia 4 is going to be a little different, and I want to go ahead and start the sign ups so that folks can ask questions and we can discuss how it should work.
The format will still be simple and no-flavor, but it's also going to be what is called a teaching game. Sign-ups are unlimited and not capped at 15 players. I'll design a game to fit the number of people who want to play. Each player who wants one will be assigned a mentor who is an experienced player. Most of the mentors will come from another site where mafia is played, but if you would like to be a mentor, we can discuss it.
When you sign up, indicate if you want to be mentored or want to play without a mentor (independent). You can also indicate if you want to be a mentor, but I may not take all (or any) volunteers depending on how the numbers work out.
Sign up like this:
1. joe blow (any of the above)
2. john doe (student)
3. joe smith (independent)

The mentor and mentee usually figure out something that works for them. When I've mentored/been mentored we've usually done a combo of instant messenger, shared google spreadsheet, and PMs. The PMs were especially good when we both weren't online at the same time, or if one of us wanted to write up a fairly detailed analysis. I'd be interested in having a mentor, but the communication aspect sounds time consuming for me atm .. I'm interested in playing so you can count me in, but can I let you know if I'll play as an independent or student a bit closer to the game?

I may make this game 5 instead of 4 if it looks like that would work for more people. Either way, it's good to start talking about it now, because teaching games take more time, due to figuring out who needs mentors and who can be a mentor.
Also, some mentors put a lot of time into it and some are more brief. I can take that into account when figuring out who should team up with whom.
