I hate these god damn plastic trumpets fucking buzzing for 90 minutes non-stop in every World Cup game. B z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z. It doesn't matter who's playing, who has possession or who's scored a goal, it's the same fucking buzzing. Where's the atmosphere, the veriety of instruments, drums, trumpets (that play more than one note), the singing and chanting, the oh's and ah's?
It's so bloody annoying I don't even have the sound on during the games anymore, I just put it on mute with some music on. It's even worse on the radio, all you can hear is the commentators and the bubble bees. They've been popular in South Africa since the early '90s, but they've only been mass produced in plastic form since 2001. And in a massive coincidence I looked up when the iPod first came out... it was 2001.
