One of the great moments in British TV comedy.
One of the great moments in British TV comedy.
It's been so overplayed that it has lost much of its initial impact, but I remember the sheer shock, surprise and uncontrollable laughter I enjoyed when I first saw this. Hopefully our non-UK residents who see this for the first time will enjoy it as much...

Trigger wasn't even supposed to be in that scene either.

I remember that too. I was howling. David Jason's timing was epic. Laughed till it hurt.

I think the chandelier scene tops it:

I guessed it would be that scene too. It's one of my all time favourites - and the chandelier one.
The other one is the Batman & Robin moment.

Never seen it before. That was very funny. Nicely done

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Three classic moments. The trouble is, the show was like a soap opera - it went on forever and all you remember is 3 classic moments - there were whole season that were shit. but when they got it right...

This song is the best of childhood, it could cut through a crappy week like a sword through jelly!
OPENING THEME:
Stick a pony in me pocket,
I'll fetch the suitcase from the van.
Cos if you want the best 'uns,
But you don't ask questions,
Then brother, I'm your man.
Cos where it all comes from is a mystery,
It's like the changin' of the seasons,
And the tides of the sea.
But here's the one that's drivin' me beserk,
Why do only fools and horses work?
La-la-la
La-lala-la
La-la-la
La-lala-la.
CLOSING THEME:
We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet
tiles,
T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s,
Ball games, gold chains, whatsnames, pictures frames and leather
goods,
And Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush,
Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush ...
No income tax, no V.A.T.,
No money back, no guarantee,
Black or white, rich or poor,
We'll cut prices at a stroke......
God bless Hooky Street,
Viva Hooky Street,
Long live Hooky Street,
C'est magnifique, Hooky Street,
Magnifique, Hooky Street,
Hooky Street (to fade)
"Whatever it is, it spits and it goes 'WAAARGHHHHHHHH' - that's probably enough to suggest you shouldn't argue with it." Mousy.

Here's the original title music used only for the first two episodes, it's just so bad, it reminds me of some Hanna Barbera cartoon.
