Well that was a lie - they're not even close to finishing based on some of the comments in the
feedback discussion. They've only just now added a quote button on comments.
Had they actually started working on it when they gave the initial announcement about the old forum?
There doesn't seem to be any real improvement from the old front page - and that was far from good. Sadly it has turned out as disappointing as many of us predicted. oh well, never mind.
Do we have an anti-popcorn smiley? :walking-out-of-the-cinema-because-I-have-no-interest-in-watching-any-more:
No but we have this, which is completely inappropriate, but does feature a door.

I feel I should apologize to facebook for comparing the new RD site to a facebook feed - a facebook feed is more functional and better looking.

Nah I see that more as a "I've done something silly so I'm leaving", I'm looking more for a "I'm bored so I'm leaving".
There must be one somewhere, there are so many at the Rationalia Smiley Repository that it still hasn't finished loading!

Somewhere else you can point your pole at without getting

Does anyone know if Richard consulted his lawyers before implying so starkly that RD.net is
THE RDFRS site? (which it technically isn't:
http://richarddawkinsfoundation.org is ) Won't those charity commissioners be wringing their hands? Or perhaps he did consult lawyers to satisfy that aim, and that was one of the reasons things were delayed…

How would we know that unless someone has "inside edition" on the legal status of the foundation.
I have a question though regarding that. You bring up a good point for those that are regular supporters and give generously to the cause. How do these donaters know exactly where the money goes and how it's spent.?
If Josh and Andrew's salary comes out of the foundation money, I don't think many would continue to contribute.

All I know is that RD.net is legally separate from The Richard Dawkins Foundation, and it became so because the charity commisioners didn't like the anti-religious content on the original, unified page.
The
de facto link between them was cited as the rationale for banning any and all subjective discussion of sexuality on the forum, just in case someone, somewhere would have got offended by even fairly innocuous discussion thereto, that they might use their powers to strike RDFRS off the register of charities. But those on the front page were left to indulge the occasional off-colour chat in peace…

Oh I didn't know that it is separate. Either way, RD, as the head of the foundation has the right to approve funds being distributed which can also include salaries. I've never really bothered to think about this before, but if I am ever to donate to a foundation, I like to find out how the money is spent. I have a very bitter feeling (from past experiences) donating money to large organizations. If I give money to anything, to me it has to be specific and direct. I know all too well where my blood and tears money I gave to the church went.

The Reason Project would likely be a good alternative if you had qualms to that end.
