I'd like to say I'm just underwhelmed and meh, but no ... it's actually a lot worse than that. :nono: It looks worse than a lot of newspaper article comment pages. :|~

The good thing is though :shifty: , you can now view all of Young Master Chalkers' comments at a glance: http://www.richarddawkins.net/profiles/9950 ...

Possibly bigger than all the atoms (or even sub-atomic particles) in the universe. Is it possible to conceive of a number greater than anything in existence? :levi:

That would have been an interesting topic for discussion on the old forum *SNIFF* :ddpan:

(Worth merging with the almost identical other thread?)

The old RD.net, while visually cluttered, was kind of like a black hole, and sucked you in.

The new one acts more like a magnet with its like pole facing me. I try to move towards it but get kind of phwoomped off somewhere else.

I think that probably even I could do better and I am not any computer tech at all. However I do like to see things in a welcoming and orderly easy access for the members which is something that this new format not have. This is deliberately to discourage a huge membership. Can you see 80.000 members communication via this crap??? It's never going to happen because it was designed to not allow it to happen.

It's not even just the visual... the functionality requires you to think to much... websites shouldn't do that, they should be obvious and self explanatory. Considering how little it has to do, that's bad indeed.

Good design is about functionality, and visual style is a part of that.

We have finished our maintenance but we're waiting for the updated DNS settings to propagate. Trying visiting the site with or without the www.
If not please try again later. Thank you.
Well that was a lie - they're not even close to finishing based on some of the comments in the feedback discussion. They've only just now added a quote button on comments.

Had they actually started working on it when they gave the initial announcement about the old forum?

There doesn't seem to be any real improvement from the old front page - and that was far from good. Sadly it has turned out as disappointing as many of us predicted. oh well, never mind.

Do we have an anti-popcorn smiley? :walking-out-of-the-cinema-because-I-have-no-interest-in-watching-any-more:
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
