It is totally underwhelming. Just looks like a mildly sophisticated blog.

Totally amateurish.

We have finished our maintenance but we're waiting for the updated DNS settings to propagate. Trying visiting the site with or without the www.
If not please try again later. Thank you.
That's all I'm getting. :( I'll have to wait until tomorrow to check it out.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I'm fairly certain my 15 year old nephews could come up with something better looking.

Well that was worth waiting for. Anyone know if the Archive of the old site is still there?

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

I see all the comments about the shitness of gravatars have been swept under the carpet.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Very, very fucking sad. A whole community dispersed, not on the new site, nor making much of a fuss on here or on ratskep. Dispersed. All because of some little shits that wanted to play web overlord.
Forums are interesting and if you don't agree, you can fuck off.

My question of the "New" RDF.

That's IT? :hilarious:

It's not new, it's a slight shuffle.

Just had a quick look at the new site.

First impressions: it's not drawing me in. Previously (ignoring the forum) I would drop in, look through the headlines and latest news, and they'd give me a brief paragraph of what to expect if I clicked on each one (they also had useful icons to describe the content - since I'm not one to watch videos or listen to audio often, I could choose the textual items). Now it's just the headline, or worse, just the first n characters of it, and a Windows 3.1 "document" icon, which tells me far less. And I literally can't be bothered clicking all the links to find out more, if the headline fails to explain enough.

Aaaaaand since that's all I ever used it for, I guess ... um ... :dono:

The announcement about gravatars, google calendar and delicious-like tags confirmed to me what I already suspected due to their inability to fix the forum search, etc. - that RD's tech monkeys are inexperienced and incompetent. They'd be turned down for a job in a web development agency as far as I can tell.
