Well, fucking with a condom sometimes feels like a disability....Elessarina wrote:...Idle wrote:I have no problem with homosexuals doing what they need to do in private, I see homosexuality as a disability, since there is no evolutionary desire for a homosexual to have sex with a woman and in turn produce off-spring, which is essentially the propose of all living species, i.e. to propagate their genes through asexual/sexual production. For lesbians this is not a problem in the sense as in evolution as rape of females within a species actually has an evolutionary benefit.
You must have a disability then if you fuck a woman with a condom or have oral sex

Getting grabbed would be problematic for me. I'd have to draw the line there and impress upon that person the importance that they not touch me without consent. In most places, ass grabbing and such is a minor sexual assault crime.CJ wrote:Ditto! I got my arse grabbed in a Gay bar in Leeds once. You don't have to worry about gangs of gay mean raping you up the arse. Really. It's just bullshit you got told in school by kids who knew no better.
Time to get over it.
I've experienced it first hand. Not being raped but gay men making advances on me.I smiled and said no thanks.

There are some out there who view it as if getting hit on by a gay person means that you must be "sending out signals" or "seem gay."Elessarina wrote:Lucky for you.. it's nice when someone finds you attractive....Idle wrote:

It is in the UK, if you complain or a police officer witnessed it and pressed a prosecution.Coito ergo sum wrote:Getting grabbed would be problematic for me. Nobody said it was in a gay bar. But, does going into a gay bar imply consent to fondling and groping? That's like saying if a woman goes into a singles bar, her ass is up for grabs too.CookieJon wrote:"Officer, I have a complaint... Yes I do see your point, and I was kinda just being facetious. But, does going into a gay bar imply consent to fondling and groping? That's like saying if a woman goes into a singles bar, her ass is up for grabs too.
However, the OP was opining that gay men in particular are despicable because they'll hit on you if you're straight. You've now drawn the discussion to the topic of how people in general sometimes make unwanted advances on other people, neutralising the argument that this behaviour is particularly problematic of gay men. Well done!

Of course it's not particularly problematic of gay men, at least not that I'm aware of.CookieJon wrote: However, the OP was opining that gay men in particular are despicable because they'll hit on you if you're straight. I was out drinking with my girlfriend, my mates and her mates and her gay friend actually grabbed my crotch as he walked pastCJ wrote:CookieJon wrote:"Officer, I have a complaint... After that was clarified all was fine again and everyone ended up having a good night, it turns out that is just an aspect of how he acts when drunk, One of my mates is at the complete opposite end of the "spectrum" with his homosexuality he doesn't openly flaunt it, It's just a part of who he is.
Back onto the OP, I think the reason Atheists in general are accepting of homosexuality is for the simple reason that when you aren't looking at it through the God goggles it's really just not a big deal. From my experience it's the God Squad that is so obsessed with where a man sticks his Purple Headed Love Hammer the rest of us understand that although it's a characteristic of someone's personality, it doesn't have to define them.
Re: Atheism and homosexuality
Silly question....Idle wrote:Why is there a lack of objection to homosexuality within the atheist community?
The real question is, why is there an objection to homosexuality within the religious community (Catholic priests excepted)? Sure it's in the {insert holy book of choice}, but so are a lot of other things that now are apparently OK. The OT is full of things that "thou shalt not", but they're very selective about which ones should be enforced.

And rightly so.Link wrote:I was out drinking with my girlfriend, my mates and her mates and her gay friend actually grabbed my crotch as he walked pastI told him in no uncertain terms that while i had no problem with his sexuality, I did have a problem with someone i've only just met grabbing my manhood!
I do note, however, that you "openly flaunt" your heterosexuality, otherwise you wouldn't be seen in public drinking with your girlfriend, now would you?...One of my mates is at the complete opposite end of the "spectrum" with his homosexuality he doesn't openly flaunt it, It's just a part of who he is.

Haha! a fair point CookieJon, flaunt was perhaps the wrong word....CookieJon wrote:And rightly so.Link wrote:I was out drinking with my girlfriend, my mates and her mates and her gay friend actually grabbed my crotch as he walked pastI told him in no uncertain terms that while i had no problem with his sexuality, I did have a problem with someone i've only just met grabbing my manhood!

I was just trying to make the point that you can't box all Homosexuals or all Heterosexuals into neat little stereotypes, I'm sure most people on Ratz agree and the comment may have been unnecessary here but i've had to make it abundantly clear to a few aquaintances of mine in the past (unfortunately the area where i live has a higher than usual infestation of bigots that don't like to question their irrationality too often)

This thread got me thinking about the terminology - or lack of it - that we have for describing our relationships...
