I don't think everyone is 100% straight all the time. After reading some of the views I find that maybe like one poster said if I experienced the discrimination then I would be proud of being a gay too just to make a statement, that gays exist they are humans and they are here to stay. As I kind of see it being a parallel to my own position of being an Ex-Muslim something which I am proud of.

I suspect some of your current stance may be ascribed to, and a hangup from, your previous intolerance of gays due to your own former personal disability that you say you have now discarded, but maybe not in its entirety, namely Islam. Grass roots run deep sometimes.

I agree with you, I have found that even as an atheist, at times I have been subconsciously sexist and I feel very ashamed about that. I am not a bad person I believe in equality for everyone. But sometimes indoctrination makes you a bad person, or at least irrational.

I think in actually answering the OP then. Atheism had nothing logically to "say" about gender or sexuality. However the rational person, tries to look at the evidence and there is none that suggests homosexuality is wrong.
