Greatest moments in sports history
If you had to pick only one (so there is no need to say "there are so many" or "can't pick just one") - if you HAD to pick only one because someone had a gun to your head and would blow your brains out if you did not pick one moment in sports history that you consider the greatest (for whatever reason you think it's the greatest, whether inspiring, awesome, emotionally draining, fun, serious - whatever), which would it be?
For me, it's the 1980 Miracle on Ice. To this day I can watch that last game of the US vs. Soviet Union and I get chills up my spine. It was monumental. The weird part is, everybody thinks that was a gold medal game, when it wasn't. The US had to go on to defeat Finland after that. That's part of what makes it so great - it was an awe-inspiring, spine-tingling, nail-biting game, that wasn't for all the marbles. You could just sense that the college kids that were playing those seasoned (professional) veterans just left their guts on the ice. They had given it every last bit of everything they had. It was palpable.

November 23, 2002 in Columbus, Ohio. In only his 2nd season as the Ohio State Buckeyes' head coach, Jim Tressel has managed to pull together some close wins and is so far undefeated. All that remains between the Buckeyes and the National Championship game was the Michigan Wolverines (aka the greatest rivalry in all of sports: see ESPN).
By late in the 4th Quarter the Buckeyes had a 14-9 lead. But near the end, Michigan had the ball, driving towards their end zone. With 00:01 left on the clock and 20 yards away, they had time for one last touchdown (6-point) pass. If they made it, the Buckeyes' whole season would've been crushed, a 1-point loss literally at the last second of the season.
Instead, Ohio State intercepted it at the goal line and Buckeye fans erupted in wild celebration, flooding the field.
As for me, I just about had a heart attack at age 29.
The Buckeyes went on to win the National Championship in triple-overtime. But Ohio State fans will understand that victories like that mean less than a good, close one over Michigan.

This is my personal favorite moment (and what I associate with being responsible for my love of baseball) , but it would probably be a little boring to anybody who doesn't understand the history behind what lead up to it:
This helps put it in perspective and is a lot shorter:

This is an awesome video, not just because of the four consecutive homers, but because it's from the point of view of kids in the stands.
To put it in perspective:
To put it in perspective:
Beginning with that blast, the Dodgers, who hit the second-fewest homers in the National League in 2006, tied the game by hitting four straight home runs on four consecutive swings in a span of seven pitches. "You don't see that happen in batting practice," Los Angeles G.M. Ned Colletti says. Indeed, only three teams ever hit four straight homers (the 1961 Braves, '63 Indians and '64 Twins) but never to wipe out a deficit in any inning, much less the ninth.

Re: Greatest moments in sports history
I have two.
1. The Chicago White Sox winning the 2005 World Series!!!
2. Babe Ruth's called shot. The fact he did it against the Chicago cubs makes it even sweeter.
