The Christian bookshop near my home that closed down due to lack of use, is going to be a fancy dress and party novelty shop.

Spencer's is a tacky gift shop, often with slightly smutty merchandise. Cheap crap that teenagers love.

Spencers is a party and novelty store, although not the one opening near us, which is an independent trader, I think.
It cheers me up to see christian bookshops close down, like seeing boarded up churches being sold off for flats for people to live in and useful things like that.

A lot of Goth stuff, skulls, and the like. It was "demonic merchandise" according to the guy selling the books about supernatural beings and statues of guys being tortured to death.Bella Fortuna wrote:Gawdzilla wrote:We had an owner of a "Good News" store sue a local mall because it rented space to a Spencers.Bella Fortuna wrote:Good point; that was rather redundant...klr wrote:Is there such a thing as a non-wacky religious shop?Bella Fortuna wrote:I wish I could say that for the Wacky Religious shops around me!Don't know which of those establishments would be worse, but give me a break...

One of the items Spencer gifts sells are Living Dead Dolls. I knew someone who collected them. They're delightfully creepy..Feck wrote: What do Spencers sell ?
