Music clips add another dimension to the art of music, and animation lends a whole new element of fantasy and extremity to the nature of the composition and lyrics, and there are some really good ones around. One of my favourite examples is the animation for Gotye's Hearts a Mess (very reminiscent of Tim Burton in style) by animator and film clip director, Brendan Cook, and I really like the surrealism of virtual band Gorillaz creators, Damon Albarn of Britpop band Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of the comic book Tank Girl, with clips like Feel Good Inc and Clint Eastwood. Others include the poignancy of Royksopp's Poor Leno, and virtual band Mistula's fusion of music, graphic art, literature, photography and other art forms, built around themes of Catholic idolatry and cultural commentary encapsulated in Mulat.

You can't ignore Muse's "Knights of Cydonia". The ultimate piss take, I think, for one of the greatest songs ever.
