Should we kill a player that has been silent? I suppose they aren't overtly helping town, but they might be behind the scenes? What do we make of the new players who have said not a thing??

Like I said, Evil Spock is legitimately absent. Noncredo and I_pity have both been lurking a lot and not saying a thing. If they're not mafia, they're certainly not helping the team by staying silent.

I agree with that, if they're not scum we can at least assume that they don't have any power.

I can't even remember if I still have a vote cast but I'm going to unvote for now. I'm still tempted to vote for ani and it seems like I_pity is raking in the votes now so voting for him isn't going to do much one way or the other.

Silence is not a sign of guilt. I have been watching and trying to figure things out without inserting my own confusion into the mix; there seems to be plenty of that right now without me adding to it. I am with the town, and if CJ or 95Theses are who they say they are then one or the other can validate that statement when and if they see fit.

All right, it looks like pity is getting lynched today. Noncredo, you're right, this thread can be a bit confusing. I propose tomorrow we make a nice chart with the reasons for and against lynching each living player.

Good morning. As it seems I_pity will be lynched anyway I won't bother voting.

But I've tried to read up on the posts made since I fell asleep, and it seems I have to say this for a possible investigation: I am Fremen and innocent.

Nightfall!

'They [the Naibs] knew Korba. He was one of them. To become a Naib, he'd proved his Fremen courage and caution. Not brilliant, Korba, but reliable. Not one to lead a Jihad, perhaps, but a good choice as supply officer. Not a crusader, but one who cherished the old Fremen virtues: "The Tribe is paramount."'
- Dune

What is more ridiculous than a Death Commando transformed into a priest?
- Paul Muad-Dib

You watch as I_pity_the_fool stands without protest while his cachepockets are emptied and the stillsuit torn open. I_pity_the_fool stoically walks out onto the sand and starts slip-fashion up the slope of the dune. You keep one eye on the slowly shrinking figure as you set up your stilltent on a rocky outcrop, and you jerk in surprise when you hear a deep booming sound from his direction. Drum sand. Shai Hulud will rise and take him.

I_pity_the_fool was Korba, destined to be a Feydakin, and eventually the Panegyrist to Muad-Dib's Messiah. And yet, it will not come to pass. I_pity_the_fool was a Fremen and Town, loyal to Sietch Tabr and to Paul Muad-Dib.

Night actions are due in 11.5 hours.

Day 3 - God created Arrakis to train the Faithful.

Parting with friends is a sadness. A place is only a place.
- Thufir Hawat

Above all else, the mentat must be a generalist, not a specialist. It is wise to have decisions of great moment monitored by generalists. Experts and specialists lead you quickly into chaos. They are a source of useless nit-picking, the ferocious quibble over a comma. The mentat-generalist, on the other hand, should bring to decision-making a healthy common sense. He must not cut himself off from the broad sweep of what is happening in his universe. He must remain capable of saying: "There's no real mystery about this at the moment. This is what we want now. It may prove wrong later, but we'll correct that when we come to it."...You must look at it with as few preconceptions as possible, asking yourself: "Now what is this thing doing?"
- The Mentat Handbook

The spice must flow
- Baron Vladimir Harkonnen

He who controls the Spice, controls the universe!
- Baron Vladimir Harkonnen

You crawl out of the stilltent into the predawn cold, and discover a huddle of your traveling companions around a slashed and torn tent. Lying among the tatters in a wasteful pool of blood is AshtonBlack. A surgically precise sword wound cuts between sternum and rib, angled to pierce his heart. AshtonBlack was Esmar Tuek, a Fremen spice smuggler. He had been loyal to Duke Leto originally, but was suborned by Harkonnen scum during this desert trek. AshtonBlack was recruited scum.

Virphen lies sprawled in the sand, vacant eyes turned upward as though staring at the near moon. Buried in his chest is the poisonous hypodermic needle of a hunter-seeker. Virphen was Thufir Hawat, House Atreides' Mentat Assassin. Virphen could protect one player each night, and would also block that player's night actions, if any. (Mafiascum.net/wiki Jailer)

You move away from the rest of the party and pack up your gear in grim silence.

A third day under the harsh desert sun has begun.

Wow, AB. I actually thought you were a good guy. At whose hands did AB die?

From the description in the Day opener, I would think it was Duncan Idaho, swordmaster of Ginaz.

Don't know who that is though. :dono:

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Yes. I was wondering what kind of abilities that character had also. Looks good!

Reading copious amounts of Sci-fi comes in handy.
