Day 2 - Any road followed precisely to its end leads precisely nowhere

Do you wrestle with dreams?
Do you contend with shadows?
Do you move in a kind of sleep?
Time has slipped away.
Your life is stolen.
You tarried with trifles.
Victim of your folly.

- Dirge for Jamis on the Funeral Plain, from Songs of Muad'Dib by the Princess Irulan.

"A small man, weak-looking. The face was weaselish with overlarge dark eyes. There was gray at the temples. And his movements — he moved a hand or turned his head one way, then he spoke another way. It was difficult to follow."
- Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, describing Count Hasimir Fenring

Someone shakes your shoulder gently, and you reluctantly wake up cold and creaky from sleeping on the stony cave floor. In the dim light streaming in from the cave mouth you see shadowy forms stirring around you. You tuck your chin into your neck to reach the cachetube and drain the bitter water that has collected overnight in the cachepockets of your stillsuit, recycled sweat and moisture from your breath caught in your nose filters. It is not nearly enough to slake your thirst.

Standing slowly and stretching, you look around and see two sinister mounds huddled under robes still lying on the ground.

Mephistophiles' bloodsoaked robe covers a convulsed body curved almost protectively around a horrible slice through the chest. The contorted limbs are a silent testament to the potency of a poisoned sword that killed before the body had bled out. His hand still grips a milky crysknife which is buried in the throat of rezling. rezling's face is caught in an expression of mild surprise. He died a better death than that which he inflicted upon his unintended victim.

rezling was Counter Hasimir Fenring, and was an independent serial killer who came to Arraikis in the service of Emperor Shaddam IV to weaken both sides of this conflict.

Mephistophiles was Jamis, a Fremen of Sietch Tabr who was assigned by Stilgar to protect Paul Atreides. He was loyal to the Atreides and to Stilgar. He gave his life in that protection last night.

You gather your gear and stumble out into the predawn desert, putting space between yourself and the others. You follow the almost random steps of the figure who takes the lead today. Step...drag...step step...slide...drag...step, out into the desert, territory of the formidable giant sand worms.

This game day ends 12 hours after it begins.

See what I mean? See how clever she is? After saying yesterday to kill Irre if I died in the night she decided not to kill me to fool you into thinking she wasn't one of the scum.
What cleverness? What manipulation? What downright dirty scheming?
She has had our bodyguard taken. Who will protect us now?

It ends here.

This seemingly unprovoked campaign against Irre brings my thoughts to the old saying "do not trust the monkey".

[demagogue]Trust the monkey. I am the voice of reason. Listen to me. Don't let happen to me what happened to Piggy in Lord of the Flies. I will carry you safely through the desert. If the campaign seems unprovoked its because you didn't see what she got up to in the last game.[/demagogue]

I agree with Normal. You said accusing Irre would make you a target and as one of the many possible victims, you weren't killed last night and this is supposed to be evidence of Irre's guilt? I vote for Animavore.

Not the best logic here from you Ani. Makes me very suspicious. Do you have reasons other than not getting killed last night for wanting Irre dead?
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Simple. She's too dangerous to leave wandering around reigning free to do as she pleases.

Interesting Tactic Alia of the Knife. But I think you've stuck your head above the shield wall one too many times.
But I shall reserve my vote since I am an honourable smuggler.
