Re: Dune 2.0 Peanut Gallery
I'm probably not going to have a chance to read Dune for this came but I was considering watching one of the adaptations. I'm not sure if I should see the miniseries or David Lynch's adaptation. Maybe both? But which should I see first?

Well, I really liked David Lynch's but that's just me, most everybody else I know hated it!

IMO...heyzeus wrote:I well I do like David Lynch quite a bit so I'm downloading it now.
The David Lynch movie is great, although unfortunately it ends in a real hurry, as though they ran out of money before being able to finish the story properly. Turn your speakers up nice and loud for this one!!
The miniseries is more faithful to the books (and covers more of them) but it's, well... a bit boring? Doesn't have Lynch's artistic style, and seems to just go through the motions to get the story from the books onto the screen.
EDIT: I might add, if you think you're going to get a sense of the plot of Dune from watching the movie, remember it IS a Daivd Lynch film!

I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. SPIIIIIICE OMNOMNOMNOMNOM
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.
