So now it's a crime to offend people in England?
'Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you.' - George Carlin

I think the atheist in question is an idiot, but I don't see how the police could charge him with anything.

Fucking Scouseland! :nono:

Two question though,

1. What was the actual law he was supposed to have broken.

2. The article said the jury "all swore their oath on the Bible", how therefore can they be said to be a jury of his peers?
Think about it, if this had been some small cult (of the kind that even the big established cults (i.e. the organised religions) would call a 'cult') that he had offended, and all the members of the jury we're members of that cult, wouldn't the jury be dismissed as biased?

Huh? This is the jury we're talking about, they've no reason to care less.

Besides, the religious persuasion of the judge wasn't even mentioned in the article as far as I could see.

But juries tend to vote on superficial things ...and sentences given out can vary wildly .. I don't see how potentially causing an offense can be a crime per se .

But there are lots of laws that could be applied :dono:

What? Now I'm totally confused what we're talking about. :dono:

Like pictorial versions of Ezekiel 23-20?

Ugh, this guy is a moron. He doesn't deserve to go to jail but he was being an ass. Who describes himself as a "militant atheist?"

If the graphics used were of a sexual nature, instead of just "blasphemous" the rozzers could probably do him for something.
I agree, though, he was an idiot if they were "cartoon porno".
