We don't have any, so far as I know. But if we did, I'd campaign to become a mod, just so I could ban them.
We do, and you bloody well know it. You'd have to ban yourself. ;)

I think this all worked out for the best.
Numbers have dropped right off. The people who have decided to stay fit right in with the Ratz spirit and there are now quite a few more people online at any given time. Even the board is filled with the usual trivial and semi-trivial topics. All as predicted I might add.

Why only a few weeks ago we were complaining how quiet it was sometimes.

To the original community here. Hang tight and don't panic. I'm sure things will calm down a lot over the course of a few more days and us incomers will start to integrate and make more friends with the old times.

Don't start hating each other and getting an us and them attitude. We're all on the same side.
On the day Sir (pending) Professor Emeritus Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Richard Dawkins pulled the plug on his forum, Rationalia consisted of 330 members, and almost all of them were refugees from there. I resent the parochialism inherent in some of the posts made in this thread, and wish to disassociate myself from it in the most forcible manner possible.

i'm sure this wll be appreciated seraph by all who read it. actually, however,i for one can understand a certain level of dischord from rationalia' s original membership. back in october 2008 when that last pr disaster unfolded many of us at the original united rdf forum had felt a certain disquiet at some of the more outre content for fear of a backlash. the definition of outre i guess was interpreted in different ways. for me ironic outre was fine and i contributed enthusiastically to threads with the same humour.i revelled in the company of others who shared that sense of good humoured banter. my definition of outre covered a minority of posts. when the schism happened a number of the original members myself included commented to that effect some more strongly worded than others. in retrospect i can see how those comments were all heaped together as one huge dismissal of most of ot and were therefore seen as tarring far more valued contributers than was intended. then rd's cack handed generalised and elitist comments poured petrol on the fire.i recall feeling extremely sorry for some including pluto who was crushed unjustly by rd's vitriol. by then a schism was inevitable and there seemed little that could be done to avoid it.
here we are almost 18 months on feeling just as aggrieved as you were. the boot clearly on the other foot as we feel chastened like some maladjusted teenagers. one of my last posts on the forum was in old farts about andreas wank of the german skijump team. (at first i thought i'd singlehandedly brought the forum down as i guessed that they would have thought if wank had got into the old fart thread then the forum was doomed!)
to see the mass complaining as the disaffected poured in must have felt a tad galling to some and hypocritical in the extreme to others. i don't blame elesserena or the others for feeling this way. i do not see it as wicker man mentality, more a sense of irked injustice and a desire to carry on the happy dynamic of your group.
i have actually been really hearted by the restorative powers of this little net drama. long may it continue. can i say how much respect i have for all the original members for allowing the influx in the first place. i think everyone was humbled and grateful.

edited for illiteracy.

Well, I understand that some of the old guard here might have felt resent- or amusement when the refugees flooded in, but many of us had joined RDF after the purge in 2008 (I joined in November '08). Now it seems like the atheist community has benefited in some ways - Ratz has got new members, rationalskepticism.org has soaked up those who would've felt out of place here, and many friendships have been retied and created.

Oh, the vanity! :comp:
The real cause was when I followed up with Mr Andrew Anker, known as André to his friends. :duel:
I brought the forum down all by myself. :hairfire:

The Rationalia server seemed to have been overloaded recently. It was really only then that I realised that a host of noisy house guests and gate crashers, all with axes to grind, must have been a bit tedious at times for the regulars here, sorry.
It looks as though things will be better again due to rationalskepticism.org now set up and RD’s apology, let’s hope so.
