Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.

I'm not going to forgive him before he apologizes for permanently banning my account for no good reason. If he admits that he was an utter control freak and heavy-handed wanker back in those days, then I might just forgive him, yes.lordpasternack wrote:Your snotty little tu quoque jibes about Kevin or the rest of the membership at large (with whom you are clearly not familiar at all) are not particularly relevant in this thread, and should have been moved. The Richard Prins administration was an improvement, but not by much. The idiotic, impractical, debate-stifling, hand-binding "no personal attacks" diktat was still very much prevalent. Plus, Richard Prins was an annoying busybody.
The rest of the moderators I didn't have much of a problem with. Then again, I wasn't terribly impressed by them either. Far too susceptible to "group-think" for my liking. I wouldn't like to be living in their neighbourhood if the time and place so happened to be 1930s Germany or Soviet Russia.

Salviati, NOBODY says you have to like him, speak to him or read his posts. But you don't attack another member here. You get that protect, and we extend it to other members.Salviati wrote:I'm not going to forgive him before he apologizes for permanently banning my account for no good reason. Saying that I think someone used to be a wanker isn't exactly going to impoverish (further) the quality of conversation here. The moderators should only jump in when the insults are repeated and unambiguously detract from the content.
The "no personal attacks" edict is dogma, plain and simple. A lump of hand-me-down dogshite dating all the way back to the Ronayne era.

I don't see how it's even tangential.. I meant for it to be tangent to the circle of discussion it must intersect it at a single point, no? Neither is it secant to the discussion. It is entirely irrelevant!lordpasternack wrote:That's fine, but again, it's tangential to this thread and this particular subforum...Salviati wrote:I'm not going to forgive him before he apologizes for permanently banning my account for no good reason. Join in with that spirit in mind and you'll be welcomed (I sure as hell was) fight against it, and I doubt we'll be seeing much of you.

I find it so amusing to see the mental turmoil going on in peoples heads who hate a website, but love complaining about that website an equal amount.

Yeah, tangential all the way to the bank -- or at least it would be if my initial post still stood.lordpasternack wrote:That's fine, but again, it's tangential to this thread and this particular subforum...
The relevance to this thread is quite simply that I don't believe Timonen's antics were worse than that which was habitual for the oh-so-traumatized moderating staff.
