That letter is a load of bollocks. It didn't address
anything, not anything real in any case.
The foul expressions he quotes never appeared in the short-lived shut down comments thread on the forum; this is known because some folks downloaded that thread before it was deleted and those quotes aren't in it. But a search of the downloaded
site found them in a completely unrelated forum and thread, as though they had been planted there by Timonsen.
Timonson also deleted logs that showed the deletion of the shut-down comments thread and the insertion of these bogus quotes in the unrelated forum and thread. The more we learn about this the more sordid it becomes. The one-time Mods have sent the evidence of these shenanigans to Dawkins and are awaiting his reply or response.

That's appalling. Were these "foul expression" quotes actually supposed to have been generated by our regular posters ? Are they still available anywhere ? -- it would be nice to check the context....

Is that true? because I sourced every single quote to this website after RDF was closed.
If we have evidence that he has been back and inserted them into the RDF threads then that's dynamite.

They were all on here :

I think that that's what set some people off - the fact that this sort of was sprung on the forum without a real clear statement of what's going to happen and when. Then a bunch of people flew into a rage, probably boiling over from being upset at Timonen for not showing them what they thought was due respect. And, then some members of RDF.net forum seem to have really gone over the line with the vitriol, as quoted by Dawkins.
ALL of those quotes come from this forum - AFTER the RD.net forum had been closed.
They are most certainly NOT a response to the letter from Josh that Dawkins quotes - they are a response to Josh's criminal vandalism and Stalinesque behaviour.
That's what I hope someone can prove with evidence via linked sources. Please do this if you can because Richard has been grossly misled.

I feel better now.

When someone tells me they know that change can be frightening in order to at both times shut me up and patronise me, I get the sudden urge to ram a fistful of nails down their throat.
So, yeah, bad handling.
(I'm glad you've sent a letter. A few well known names with calm and honest opinions might at least wake RD up to what has been done, even if he doesn't care)

Good question! If I see the fat-faced little porker wandering around with his camera, I swear I'll trip him over and kick him in the guts. If he is there I am all the more determined to get folks to join me in turning our backs in silent protest when RD takes the stage. He can get that on camera!

So there we have it, every single one from Rationalia, none from RDF.

Thanks, that makes things a LOT clearer
I await with interest the results of the submission of this evidence to RD via the mods. Just hope he has the humility to respond appropriately.

Already done.
He's not replied since it was sent a couple of days ago, and he leaves his emotional diatribe at the top of the forums. He doesn't care apparently.

Don't hold your breath.
He has already moved on from something that was not important to him in the first place and the furore will all die down in a few days in any case.

The post time dates also tell the story of events
Roughly the time the forum started the lockdown and purge.
The first Josh turned into Dawkin abuse quote mine.

Pretty much. The whole thing just doesn't make any sense. Except in terms of personality disorders in action. The whole community was thrown into disarray, now wondering what the hell is going on. We get no explanation aside from a single letter telling us that we're all ungrateful little shitwads. With the lack of anything to go on, rumor and speculation abound.

That's how Peter Harrison describes it in his blog #2 on the subject.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. There's no evidence to suggest that anyone faked any RDF threads in any way.
There is reason to suspect though that posts taken from rationalia were presented to RD as if they were made on his own forums before the lockdown. Whether that in fact happened is one of the questions we'd most like answered.

My impression on the letter, was that Richard was not necessarily referring to himself as the object of the quotes, nor was he saying that they had occurred on his own website.
But, admittedly, this is from the perspective of being a little late to the party.

He held up those comments as examples of why his men were right to shut down the forum.
How could that be valid unless they actually came from that forum before the deletions and closure took place?
