Gah! As if it wasn't bad enough that refugees have scattered to here, to TAF, to talkrational, and non-gods know where else, you're now building a new schism site?! :x Don't Get Me Wrong, I recognise the good intentions, but I wish we could all end up at ONE place! Why couldn't Josh/RD just hand off the whole forum, intact, to a third party? (Well, data protection, but the problems could have been overcome.) *Sigh* :(

Well, some of us just didn't feel right piggy-backing on 'other peoples' fora'. I like it here, but I'll be spending time over at rationalskepticism.org as well.

Aye. If RS takes off, I'm so going to haunt both places.

If you take me, that is. :begging:

It might be good to have a place to be serious and a place to unwind.

We don't tend to do serious too well here. We are more about   :toot: :coffeespray: :pop: :bwaha: :pedant: :jacked: :drinktype: :indub: :grouphug: :singinrain: :sofa: :titflash: :paddle: :sshag: and :cheese:

We had loads when the place first started - once the settings are tweaked, there will be bandwidth for all!

Don't know if this is directed at me or if not, however if it was I'd like to just say that I wasn't attempting to spam in any way. I put one post in each thread on the RDF Announcments sub-forum directing people here.

I do know a certain someone who's been acting like a little shit of a spamming troll posting links for the other forum all over Ratz and in fact if he/she is doing anything it was dissuading people from venturing away.

Hopefully that certain someone has got their fucking act together now and stopped acting like a baby without its rattle.

Again, if any of this was due to my posts then I sincerely apologise. :flowers:

I agree it's a shame to see the community at RDF so scattered in the current diaspora. However, I would point out there was always a 'subdivision' aspect to it anyway. I for example, only really got to know those such as Cali and others in the science forums, and when things started going bad at rd.net-like nearly a year ago-I became familiar with other protesters like Charlou in the Tech forum. Many, like myself, moved to TR about a year ago. OSHU, Dlx2, susu.exp, eversbane, steviepinhead are but a few I could name.

So I again invite all those interested in science discussions to give TalkRational a look. I think the way the site is run has a lot in common with ratz, which is why I'm a member of both. These two forums each have numerous strong points, but in the realm of science I definitely think talkrat will be the heir apparent to the informative discussions on the 2 RDF science fora. Do take a look. :coffee:

People keep saying things like this and I'm not sure I get it.

This is a public forum that anyone can join, isn't it? I don't see anything about wanting to keep numbers down or anything.

To be honest I'd actually never heard of it before. Someone posted a link to it on the Reason Project, that I only noticed after RD.net went down.

So far noone from Ratz has said anything about feeling "overrun". We're obviously all interested in similar areas of discussion so it seems like a natural place to be. I see no reason to presume that it's a problem.

Though of course if it is a problem, someone from Ratz only has to say so.
