He was another one who repeated his blather and blind assertions as if they constituted established fact, but he was so far out there with regard to his creationist masturbation fantasies that even AiG thought he was a moon pie. Sorry, Chauncey; the evidence suggests any wounds to Prof. Dawkins and Timonen, rhetorical or otherwise, seem purely self-inflicted.

no need to apologise. you may well be correct. I just don't subscribe to mob rule and prefer to wait until the dust settles or the red mist clears...and the full facts emerge (instead of speculative opinions). All this backstabbing of richard/josh without the full facts is a tad irrational in my opinion.

Although there is always a possibility that someone else was responsible for all of the various scurrilous and well-documented actions re: the RDF forum and posting ascribed to Prof. Dawkins (re: quote mining), the evidence suggests these people are indeed responsible as has been theorized. The conclusions based on this evidence seem reasonable to me. Therefore, I find your accusations unwarranted. But indeed, to each his own.

But it seems to me that to buy into your argument on 'the full facts,' I would have to entertain the premise that the site was hacked, locked, posters deleted, etc., all by someone else, and that posts ascribed to Richard Dawkins were someone else, and that whoever PZ Myers contacted was someone else in order to not attribute the actions to Dawkins and Timonen/Chalkley. That about sum it up?

Possible, perhaps more possible than your average god-concept, but unlikely.

Cut-and-paste of something I posted at Peter Harrison's blog but it seems there's a bit of that about right ow...

I am just remembering something I witnessed at the AAI convention in 2007 which I didn’t make much of at the time, but which now seems to indicate that Richard’s golden boy Timonen may, in fact, simply have jerkish tendencies in his dealings with others.

Timonen was heavily involved with the filming of that event and as I was taking my seat just before one of the lectures I heard an obscenity-strewn tirade of abuse shouted across the room. It was Timonen, visibly furious, lambasting some other Convention volunteer for who-knew-what transgression. It left a very bad taste in my mouth and I remember thinking that if I’d been the recipient of such an outburst Mr. Timonen would be picking himself up from the floor about then…

But as I say, I dismissed it with a shrug, thinking I had no way of knowing what it was all about. In the light of recent events it now looks like it may have been rather more indicative of a general lack of “people skills” from Timonen.

on the other hand he could be just someone who doesn't subscribe to mob rule and was enjoying this place before you guys arrived in to spout more speculation and stick more knives in Richard/Joshs back,

you may all be right...richard and josh maybe do deserve to wear a sack cloth for a few months....but I prefer to reserve judgement until the full facts emerge rather than ranting on based on speculation.

thanks for posting that Jack. If Timonen does have people skills issues, it does explain a lot. It's not an excuse if that's the reason behind recent events, but, an explanation at least.
