Announcement about RDF Part 3.
Re: Announcement about RDF Part 3.
The worst thing about this for me is how we're not getting any closure. Just when I thought our case was made via blogs, letters and Pharyngula, it went and got published on Times Online. It looks like Josh and Andrew will succeed in pulling the wool over Richard's eyes and making us look like scum. It's really terrible.
I wish this whole thing would go away but it'll probably just get even worse in the days to come.

Richard has shown with his recent post (Outrage) that he is either not in the loop or is doing everything that he’s professed to be against over the years. I give him no leeway whatsoever, now or in the future.
He spent years denouncing the very thing he’s engaged in now. Regardless of what he does in the future, he’s besmirched his name forever in my books. I class him now into the same category as I do rabid Christian fundamentalists that only see what they want to see and only say what they themselves want to hear.
He has lost touch with reality and is simply preaching unfounded, un-researched and unacceptable dogmatic rhetoric, yet he condemns Christians for the same narrow-mindedness that he himself is now showing.
I didn't agree with the wording of dawkins "outrage" letter, but, I don't think I've witnessed such fickleness in my life. everyone's queuing up to stab richard and josh in the back....
some community. eh?
I fixed it for you.

Would it be inaccurate to describe this purging/rapture/''outrage'' as, Unnatural De-selection?
Just a thought that came to me last night. Seemed amusing.

I doubt he'll read it all as it's much too long, and I seriously doubt he'll reply, but I figured I should post it here in case the next announcement is "Some Wanker Just PMed Me" - so if things get worse from this point on, it's probably my fault...

BTW.. how could things get worse?!

I feel the same way, all i want is for RD to acknowledge the real version of events
but would any of you believe an angry internet mob over a real life mate ? we are asking the impossible from RD lol
if anyone is still angry-- best way to vent is i guess to boycott the new website when this all gets blown over.

that was wittily done, Skinny Puppy. the only problem I have with it is that some elements of the RDF have hung themselves. I notice that many of the (what I consider) more intelligent contributors to the RDF, such as pz myers and others are either keeping quiet or rallying in support of richard.

Re: Announcement about RDF Part 3.
Personally, I won't do anything nearly so active as a "boycott". That said, I will not donate money to the foundation (as one of the goals of donation to me would be to support a growing atheist community, and accessibly scientific information, both of which were provided by the forum). I may check out the new "forum" at RD.net, and if it is truly worthwhile, I will probably hang around for a while. That said, I don't see myself contributing to it (I don't like the thought of having to be good enough to post) and because of that, I likely won't stay too long. Without a sense of community, there is nothing to distinguish RD.net from any other science related website on the internet.freethinkerboy wrote:Matt H wrote:The worst thing about this for me is how we're not getting any closure. Spoke on the phone with the Times Online author. Interesting view on the whole thing. Obviously knows who Dawkins is more than the average person you would pull off the street, although Richard did become a bit of a caricature in the discussion (angry atheist etc).
