To the old Ratz

Post by M » Thu Feb 25, 2010 8:42 am

There seems to be some disquiet over the volume of traffic here since the latest RDF schism, which is perfectly understandable. However, we must remember that it was us who jumped over there linking this site and us who encouraged people to camp out here. I think it is a bit short sighted to now be complaining over possible back-lash and the fact that the dynamic is undeniably different.

Time will sort this out. I'm sure many ex members of RDF will move on. Some will stay and if they chose to, we must assume it is because they like what goes on here and will therefore make positive contributions.

Finally, we should remember that many of us were once RDF/TA fugees.

Peace and LOLs.

I'm really sorry this is causing so much unrest. I'm sure time will sort some things out. We are really grateful. This time next week it will all look a little different I'm sure.

I remain resolutely sanguine with regards to future developments.

While it is a bit crazy here (understatement), MCJ is so right. And, let's not forget that we did this same thing, granted it was on a much smaller scale, to HoC after the TAF fiasco.
I'm happy to host our new members and I'm hoping that many of them find this place comfy enough to at least be their second home.

To be fair, the disquiet has been very minimal and not expressed due to the fact we have new members, but the implications thereof on the reputation of the members due to some vocal slagging of certain people. I mostly see acceptance, warmth, friendliness and understanding of the plight of the refugees. Dissenting voices are also welcome IMHO as we get the full perspective of the membership.

Am I wrong in thinking that a couple of comments by just a couple of people have been blown way out of proportion? 99.9% of the things I've read by 'old Ratz' in the past couple of days has been very positive about the influx. Did I miss something?

Edit: The 'negative' comments weren't about the presence of the new people, but about some of the comments they were making, anyway.

Compared to London during the Blitz it's really rather calm here. :hehe:
