To my fellow RD refugees. Please remember that this was a small, tight-knit community and we've just parachuted in, gotten out of the lifeboat and started causing drama. Try and be considerate of the original members of this forum as they are going through a major upheaval as well.

To the original community here. Hang tight and don't panic. I'm sure things will calm down a lot over the course of a few more days and us incomers will start to integrate and make more friends with the old times.

Don't start hating each other and getting an us and them attitude. We're all on the same side.

I don't think anyone here, oldtimers and newcomers alike, want to turn Ratz into an RDF bash-fest or pity-party. Normally, a forum grows slowly, but with so many ex-RDFers homeless, the sudden influx will strain things a bit. I understand that this is a fairly close-knit community, but from what I've seen of the other discussions here, I think most ex-RDFers will fit in nicely. It will certainly result in a new sort of dynamic (increased number of threads and posts, new members contributing with their perspectives and knowledge and cheese, etc), which might come as a shock to some, but as we mostly have the same outlook (we are rational atheists after all, eh?), I don't imagine that the tone will be seriously altered. If everything turns out right, this forum will be a favourite hangout for all, and by preserving some of the best of the now defunct RDF community, it will be a "in yer face" to the people ultimately responsible for the uproar without the need to post more vitriol on what has transpired over at RDF.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT FORUM CHANGE! What I do care about is my name being dragged through the mud when people like PZMyers or RD see the abuse and offensive comments made here about Josh and RD. I don't want to be associated with it, I don't want either of those two people who I respect (PZ & RD) or anyone else on the internet thinking me or many of the other regular posters are a part of this frenzy and outrage being expressed here.

Join our community, that's fine what I don't like is that my name is now associated with a community that RD probable views are fairly vile. I didn't sign up for that

More members don't mean we can't have a community, we were one big forum before and it was great, with some patience it could be like RDF back when it was in it's prime. The bonds we've all made aren't going to be lessened because there are more people here.

I have a problem with 300/400 people joining and then bringing this forum into the spotlight and for negative reasons. I want neither Richard Dawkins nor PZMyers nor Josh nor anyone else considering that I have taken part in this kind of ridiculous witchhunt

Ele there will be guilt be association, there always is, but all the people that matter know you are not one of the people who is piling on to Josh Timonen and Richard Dawkins and unless we ban discussion of those two people there is nothing we can do.

Josh and Richard fucked up and what has compounded the issue is they will not acknowledge their culpability for the current situation and until they do that thing are not likely to improve.

If PZ/RD think its the old timers who are being the most vocal, then they're simply wrong. To insist that you are is a form of quote mining. How do we all set the record straight with them, Elessarina?

PZ/RD need to concede the point that RDF was more than what they think it was. And maybe less that what the refugees think it was.

I invited you over here a long time ago before all this happened.

I have no problem with people joining here.. does no one understand this? All i have done is ask everyone to calm down. If you want an atheist community - you have one here. But drop the hatred of dawkins and Josh.. if you consider the fucked up then that is up to you. Even if you think they did - do they deserve the kind of words and hatred aimed at them that we usually expect to be expressed by Westboro Baptists?
