We don't have any, so far as I know. But if we did, I'd campaign to become a mod, just so I could ban them.pawiz wrote:You'd just ban all the FrenchiesClinton Huxley wrote:Good Grief, that would be like "work"........I need a lie down.Pensioner wrote: Except Clinton he is just a shit. To the original community here. Hang tight and don't panic. I'm sure things will calm down a lot over the course of a few more days and us incomers will start to integrate and make more friends with the old times.

True. We are all pretty much on the same side. On the same boat. Don't like seeing eles upset though. I loves her alot. Just wish there wasn't any friction here to cause her to become uncomfortable. I'm sure it'll cool down though.Heresiarch wrote:Don't start hating each other and getting an us and them attitude. We're all on the same side.

Quite - and as an addition to that, whilst people are quite entitled to despise TAF - a forum that I and others have struggled to rebuild from what was essentially a smoking hole in the ground, can people please exercise a little more diplomacy. Schisms happen and old wounds heal just as those opened by the events at RDF eventually will. I have good friends here and I would like to be able to talk meaningless shite with them from time to time without people I've never even heard of adding their disparaging tuppence ha'penny's worth about my forum on the basis of a few cursory glimpses.Bella Fortuna wrote:I think part of what El is saying is that up until a couple of days ago this was a sleepy little familiar hamlet, and now we have lots of new blood (mainly good) but we are also spreading the news of its existence far and wide, and being in the middle of all the strife, we are now subject to a level of scrutiny and a degree of contention that we have not had, and I would say we do not necessarily want. Not trying to stifle anyone, because I've been as vocal as anyone, but the unintended consequence of being in the spotlight makes many of us 'old timers' uncomfortable.
Our usual traffic before all this rarely got more than 20 users on at once, and maybe a guest or two... so this is a massive change for us as well as those who have relocated here from RDF. We DO very much welcome anyone who wants to settle in and find like-minded folk here. There's a sensitivity that should work both ways.

I've never heard of your forum (But I had never been anywhere but RD before this). Is it similar to rationalia? The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Re: Can we get a bit of perspective please
It seems that "TAF" is a rather common abbreviation. I searched on yahoo for it, and I got...
Term Auction Facility
Tiger Athletic Foundation
Taxpayers Against Fraud
Terminal Aerodrome Forecast
Technology Access Foundation
Taiwanese American Foundation
Toshiba America Foundation
The Asia Foundation
Tippecanoe Arts Federation
I don't suppose your site is one of those ones?
P.S. Is there really a foundation for Tiger Athletics? That should be on ESPN IT WOULD BE FREAKIN' AWESOME!

I get your point, yes...though I do not really feel addressed by it. Although I am quite active here since I registered but I couldn't be further away from trying to trash your place if that's what you are suggesting...Xamonas Chegwé wrote:Now imagine that you are sitting, quietly reading your favourite poetry book - also the only one left in the world - and someone grabs it and begins frantically scribbling down everything that they can remember of The Origin Of Species across the Emily Dickinson and T.S.Eliot that you love so much.life wrote:I'm sorry that 'we' invaded your homely place here and I'm not being sarcastic.Elessarina wrote:It is just a forum .. it might be a special place, it might be many things but ultimately it is just a ROOM..in which you interact with other poeple.
You can still stay in touch with those people. There are also many like-minded people here - join our community.
Repeatedly venting is not going to change anything. You may be angry and upset but all you are
doing now is dragging this forum/community through the mud and making all us who have been posting here for a year feel uncomfortable and out of place is a forum we started.
Have some respect
I do wanna make clear that I'm not whining because of the people but because of the unique content that went down the toilet.
Let me exaggerate a bit: Imagine you're holding the last copy of The Origin Of Species in your hands, you read it and realize what a marvellous discovery it really is. Then someone comes along, burns it down, taps you on the sholder and says "Oh come on, don't be so upset...it's just a piece of wood with some black ink on it you know..."
Nobody is wrong to feel hurt here. We are only wrong when we disregard how the other side feels.
