Although I am a little miffed. I've seen the traffic numbers on RD.net from Google Analytics, and it gets about 1/2 to 2/3 of the traffic of Pharyngula (and sorry to inform you of the diminution of your status further still, but the forums only got about 1/4 of the traffic of the whole site). And you guys keep talking about how RD.net is the biggest.

We've been tracking data on forums since last October and have the stats to show that the RD forum has become the busiest atheist forum on the Internet. Feel free to PM me for the evidence and I'll send it to you. We've also tracked comments and posts on the RD front page and forum. On average, the forum has had about 3,000 posts per week and the front page gets between 1/8 and 1/10 of that in comments. If you just look at the forum posts that focus on Dawkins, Reason and Science, these amount to an average of 2,000 per week.

I trust your numbers...but I get between 1000 and 2000 comments per day. Just sayin'.

As you can see from my edited post, I meant to say 3,000 per day not per week. My mistake - I'm knackered. Feel free PM me for the evidence because I have it all.

We have never discussed this new forum in any way. I doubt that he's concerned at all about it -- he is not the internet monitor.

If he isn't concerned about it then why did he cite it in his public post about the issue? It seems the individuals here have shown proper citation that the quote mining that was done came from this site and not from RD.net.

This site has averaged close to 1,000 posts a day over the past year, from a very much smaller (but generally more prolific) user base. The RD.net forum would have (maybe) an average of 300 registered users on-line at any one time. 2,000 posts a day is only around 80 posts an hour, average. It's not that hard. The overall post total of well over 2,000,000 posts (ignoring deletions) in less than 3 1/2 years also tallies with what Flora has said (EDIT: correcting for the week/day typo).

Respectfully Dr. Myers, I'm not sure that this will prove to be a productive direction for any conversation. People have been treated poorly, and although I assume no damage will be permanent, this is hardly the time to, shall we say, measure ourselves.

I have to say I'm thoroughly disgusted by RD's response. He's not computer-illiterate, if he was interested in understanding the whole story, rather than just the bits picked out for him by his child-who-can-do-no-wrong, he'd have already read about it. What utter hypocrisy.

I was in the middle of listening to the audiobook of The Greatest Show On Earth. I'm not sure I can bring myself to finish it now. It's like when I found out that Jim Carrey was an anti-vax idiot. I used to love his movies, and now I can't watch any of them without thoughts of "You fucking bastard" going through my head.

About 125 posts an hour then, or 2 per minute. As I said earlier, with hundreds of users on-line at any given time, these sorts of figures are easy to achieve.
