The times on line 1785 to 1985.

Having read Dev’s The 1911 Irish Census post I thought you might be interested in this site, which is free to join.

http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/libraries/

You can join this library for free, not only in the UK but from anywhere in the world.

When you have joined, which only takes a few minutes, you can search over 2 million newspaper pages dating from the early 1600 to the 1890s, also the Times.

As soon as you register they give you a pin number which allows you to log on to the site and look at the Newspapers.

“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”

John Maclean (Scottish socialist) speech from the Dock 1918.
