Some venting after something like this is natural. But to dissect the millions of words on the subject here and draw out only those obviously angry ones is illustrative of mining for vitriol which will support a predetermined entrenchment.

Also (and this is not the first time I've noticed this) he seems really hung-up on the whole issue of (so-called) 'anonymity' on the internet, accusing people of hiding behind their on-line names.
Although some people do behave like this, in general this criticism is totally uncalled for. If (as I do) you use the same username whenever (and wherever) you post online, that name fulfils exactly the same utility function on-line, as your 'real' name does off-line. It is an identity by which you can be held to account for what you say, not a cloak behind which you hide.

We are not for-all-intents-and-purposes being anonymous. If you were to know my real name, you'd discover less about who I am by googleing it then you would by googleing "Horwood Beer-Master".

Like fuck did Richard Dawkins write that .

As if he is on here, reading our posts, and then scribbling a poorly-written piece about his 'greatly liked and respected' IT monkey who noone had ever heard of until his towering incompetence brought down a great website overnight, and then posting that piece on that website when noone is around to fucking read it anymore .

But at least we know that incompetent Josh Timonen is.

So fuck you, Josh, you are shit at your job and for the rest of your sad and lonely life whenever a prospective employer googles your name he will be greeted with such a thundering torrent of incompetence and criticism that you won't be able to find work cleaning the toilets in McDonald's.

You are so fucking incompetent Josh, that you even posted that piece under your own admin login before hastily changing it to Richard Dawkins' login. We knew that the two were interchangeable before your demonstration but that just underlines how you manage to combine both deception with complete witlessness. Shame on you for drawing your doubtlessly meagre salary and leeching off one of the world's premier intellectuals.

You can delete the admin logs of your incompetence Josh, but you can't delete your incompetence. And that's the crux of this drama, Josh - you aren't any fucking good at your job and everyone knows it.

i assumed from the context that people had directly contacted richard dawkins to say those things. that someone trawled for them puts an entirely different perspective on rd's post.
my own email to him was entirely rational and decent and appealing to him to say something to avoid further acrimony.

If someone has the will, could they deconstruct Richard's message so that all the quotes he includes are sourced? If most of them have not come from RDF, then he's been misled and his post is even more misleading for the thousands of people likely to read it.

I will then send him a copy of that but will attribute the sources to "another forum" if admins here would prefer that.

I don't think any of the nastiness quoted was from RDF...

Nope. All from here. I suspect that the Josh Timonen who signed up here yesterday actually was Josh.

There wasn't much nastiness to quote from RDF. The nastiness was all after the forum had been closed down, attempts made to stop us communicating with our friends, accounts and threads deleted.

Poor Josh, he's so miizunderstood.

I just can't believe I have no opportunity to respond. That post was about a very specific line and very specific emotion. I have been quote mined.

I just feel used to feed this propaganda.

Whoever is trawling rationalia foir titbits from clearly emotional people - shame on you.
