Announcement about RDF Part 2.

Can't figure out how to get a screen shot posted (my work computer has a LOT of blocks on it), but I've reported the latest post by RD here as "Preaching, Witnessing or Prostlytising" - along with the following comment:

This is a very inaccurate, one-sided view of what happened in the past 24 hours, and completely ignores the major hurt done to so many who considered RD Forums a home. It is evident that Josh's opinion is the only one which matters, and that the hard work done by the moderators and administrators - the REAL work keeping the old forum running - was not only unappreciated, but probably completely ignored.

The totally unprofessional and cowardly way in which the old forum was closed generated understandable anger - that a few have chosen to vent in inappropriate ways shouldn't be taken as justification of the original acts.

Surely there has to be something wrong with people who, under a cloak of anonymity, can resort to such over-the-top language, over-reacting so spectacularly to something so trivial.

I wondered who had reported it already. Of course, I'm skeptical that Prof. Dawkins had a greater hand in that post than signing off on it. Knowing that the likes of PMs could be intercepted, I'm not sure I would trust any contact with that taint on it. Perhaps he'll follow up somewhere else and PZ Myers will spank us or something like.

It's more evident than ever that he doesn't understand either the home he used to host, nor the reason so many felt betrayed and angry.

The Front Page posters would rarely deign to visit the Forum. They consider it low-class, or "Lower Third, By gawd." FPE: Front Page Elites.

What locutus means is the people who post on the frontpage almost exclusively. People like Steve Zara (one of the most egotistical people I've ever come across), Tyler Durden and peacebeuponme seem to like responding to articles on the front page, but don't want to participate in the more open discussion that exists on the forum. Those people will have little time for our troubles.

Did not want my last post here to be one of anger. The forum truly changed my life and I have gained more that I would have thought possible from an online community. To the community, you have all been swell and I appreciate your input into my intellectual development.

Dear Richard,

I just read your latest comment of the RDF forum, and cannot but stress my utter disappointed - again.

I fail to understand that, after all the moderators had been fired, many posts had been deleted (many of them VERY informative indeed), after the forum had been frozen from participation, you found yourself surprised and shocked that people were not taking it well.

The proverbial benefit of the doubt, in this case, leads me to assume that you have been sadly misinformed about the whole affair, and it would be much appreciated if you could take a look at Peter Harrison's blog, for example, to get a clearer view of both sides of the story.
