Thanks again, everyone. I want to emphasis what some of the other former RDF staff has already said - it wasn't the staff that made the forum a special place, it was everyone. I was fortunate to have worked with some excellent people at RDF, but I was even more privileged to be associated with such a great group of folks who made the place what it was.

My appreciation to the former RD Forum staff and mods as well - you were what made that place great. :td:

I'm very sorry you all got treated so poorly and so unprofessionally..

Yes. I know he was incredibly unsympathetic during schism-1 :coffee:

The mods did a great job. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to always try to see the ‘right’ point of view and not let one’s personal feelings get in the way when moderating.

I can’t say that I ever saw anything our (RDF) mods did that was inappropriate. While all of you got a rather unceremonious boot for all of your hard work, you still have one thing they couldn’t take away from you guys/gals, that’s pride in the work you did to keep a huge community on-track and focused.

You ex-mods aren’t the losers, RDNet is! They had a top-notch team working for them and a huge base of caring and dedicated followers. It’s their loss, this site’s gain. :td:
Can't put it better than that. +1 :td:

It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

I've already said thank you, but I'll say it again. I'll point out though that the following is just my opinion and not the opinion of the RDF mod team in exile.

Some of the old mod team have taken this very hard, and are still very upset. A lot of them are putting up a brave face, but I know from other correspondences that some are still having a good cry a few times a day. The cold and small minded response by Richard has certainly done a great job of shaking salt into the wounds and kicking people while they're down. You could only get a real impression by getting into the mod centre and seeing not only the passion and dedication that this team put into the forum, but the great personal bonds that we developed for each other. Much like you, we battled to keep Richard's name clean while many attacked him from all sides. We made big changes to the forum so that it would not reflect badly on the foundation, often attracting the ire of many forum members in the process. I don't think I can express how crushing this has been for the mod team, to be so royally shafted and then vilified and lied about by the people we put in so much time and effort for.

That's why this thread and these comments make such a difference. It's nice to know that it wasn't a waste and that some people, real people, understand what happened. At this point, I don't really care about what the RDs of this world think of us. They can stay in their ivory tower and keep their eyes on each other, after all they seem to get terribly upset when they see the aggrieved masses mooning them from below. The sycophants will eventually return to obscure this view.

I'll not waste another second of my time waiting for a benediction from the Gods of Atheism, the sympathy and gratitude of the real people here is enough to keep me lifted. Thanks again for all the kind words.
Forums are interesting and if you don't agree, you can fuck off.

Don't hold your breath, Flora.

Thanks again, Charlou.

(Oh, btw, for those who don't know, I'm sciwoman at RDF.)

As an intermitent dipper into the old RDF forum I knew nothing until another member told me it was all over.

Then I read Peter Harrison's detailed account of events behind the scenes, How awful for all the general staff!
and although my visits were intermittent I looked upon the forum as a comfort zone when the madness of the world felt worse than usual.

PS. I like your footnote Sciwoman ( Sagan ) as much as I liked your previous one
