I'm angry enough as it is, there's no telling what I might have felt if I were a mod and this happened. What a fucking liberty. For sometimes years you took it in the neck from members for no reward, now the people you were working for have dumped on you from a great height. Well you were and are greatly appreciated.

Just want to say to the (ex)mods of RDF's:

Thanks for all your help .. it was NOT for naught.
Jimmy Lee Farnsworth: Erwin, admit that you are a sinner.
Fletch: Uh. Well, I've sinned. I didn't take any Polaroids or anything. But, yeah, I've sinned.
Jimmy Lee Farnsworth: The Lord forgives ya!
Fletch: Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. Amen. What? Other sins? Uh, I parked in a handicap spot on my way up here. Actually, on a handicap person. I told him I'd be back in five minutes, so that's not such a big deal.

In view of the hacking attempt last year (still don't know who was responsible, but I suspect some irate theist), could it be that the organisers of this 'coup' at RDF are in fact closet theists? It would explain a lot, methinks...

It wasn't a theist who hacked the forum. It was someone from a share ware site thing and then they spammed everyone on the memberlist via email.

Thank you to all mods/admins for help, advice, encouragement and support at RDF. You have been treated dispicably. If Richard Dawkins is any kind of man, he will telephone each one of you personally to apologise.

Furthermore, Medgen's thread set up to allow us to extend our thanks on RDF should have been left open, even if the rest of the site was locked. My 5 year old has better manners than the pair of morons who have destroyed that community.

Hi folks.

Just adding my thanks to all the mods.
I never thought the RDF would end up like this. Just what were thinking (or not).
It is nice to see so many well known names here he makes it a bit home from home.
Cheers for now. :woot:

I want to add my thanks to the (former) RDF mods. You guys really went above and beyond, and the way you've been treated hugs a royal root. The entire sordid affair could have been handled differently. I realize it's just a web forum, but it was a home away from home for me.

And a big Thank You to rationalia for taking in all us po' ass refugees.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Thanks for the kind thoughts to the staff everyone, but I have to reflect that and say that the regular membership made the community, and it was a pleasure to be part of it.

We have, for some weeks, been trying to make the case for preserving the community of RD.net. All, it seems, for nought - the change was dropped on us, despite the promise of further consultation on the new format. Happily, those who made RD.net will now have more time to spend with other communities such as this one.

Thanks ratz! :td:

I still can't believe that it happened that way. How ungrateful ! RDF was simply the BEST moderated place on the Internet I knew. A toast and my sincere thoughts to all members of the staff, who were doing such a great job. :td:

Special thanks to those of you who managed to left pointers to this place. I was feeling all disoriented this morning. And I was a simple RDF user, having joined only 4 months ago. It is easy to imagine the amount of personal investment that the forum can have represented for others. But apparently, not easy enough for the head admins to figure out or to care about. :banghead:
