I made it!!

So WTF is going on?

A few years ago Music Radar tried this - so everyone threatened to not buy any magazines from Future publishing. Seemed to do the trick.

People were attracted to the forum because of REASON - but they stayed because of the people.

Blog it people - get RD himself to answer.

That is vandalism, pure and simple. It is completely indefensible. I want to hear what Dawkins has to say about this.
+1,000,000. And I would say that the total number of deleted posts for those 5 users is actually well over 30,000. :pissed:
CJ alone had well over 10.000, as far as I remember.
Make that 6. MY was deleted last year and I had about 3000.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Right: Finally caught up. A couple of things.

Anybody whose account has not yet bee deleted, pease go to your user profile at RDF and change your location to http://www.rationalia.com, and change your user avatar to Image.

If ypu have a Youtube channel, share the video or make your own. These three measures are about all we have to let people know where to find us. I've had a few e-mails, and a few PMs at youtube, so some should already be on their way.

I see that all blue mods have been demodded except for Kiore. Still no sign of Cali, who hasn't logged on since 7:44 yesterday am. I hoping he doesn't do anything precipitous, as it would be better if we got the forum archived first, since I know he doesn't have all his content saved offline, only the big recent posts. I'm about to go save all the boilerplate posts now, just in case something goes wrong with the autoarchives (at least three peole I know of are attempting an autoarchive).

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the lovely peeps here at rationalia for opening their doors to us and allowing us to vent all over their nice unclean forum. Feel free to donate toward the running costs, as they are maintained here by the members on a voluntary basis.

Cheers.

Anyone know when this new discussion area is to go live? I don't quite understand the sense of shutting down a forum when the alternative isn't available..

As for this autoarchive business, will this archive the entire forum? And will this be searchable? I would be very much interested in recovering several of my posts on Nietzsche, which I have not been able to find after the search engine went offline a while back. There are quite a few that I invested quite a bit of time in, and I would regret losing them altogether.. :(

I can only speak for myself. The autoarchive program I'm using is new to me, so I can't tell if it's searchable, but it will indeed archive the whole forum. Hopefully, I got someof the deleted content out before the users were deleted. I'm fairly sure that DB hadn't been deleted yet.

I just logged on there, picked up a pm and sent one back.

It is my feeling that this was bound to happen after the purge of autumn 2008. I also believe that RD knows exactly what is going on and that actually, he wants rid of the forum altogether, that it is too big a monkey on his back. Let's be honest, he's not a man of the people (I'm with Mrs CJ on this one) and some of us are just not the right kind of person; intellectual snobbery always existed on the site from some parties, which is why Dawks came into being.

It's just a shame nobody there had the balls to come clean about it nor the manners to deal with people in a civilised way.

In view of the hacking attempt last year (still don't know who was responsible, but I suspect some irate theist), could it be that the organisers of this 'coup' at RDF are in fact closet theists? It would explain a lot, methinks...

The creotards and the ID crowd as well as all the other godbotherers must be laughing out loud and rubbing their hands in glee at RDFs demise. :lay:

You can also set website, facebook, myspace and twitter in your profile to point here if you don't have then set to something useful already.

Is there any way to restore deleted posts? Some kind of internal archive, or journaling function?

On the contrary, hack, I think Cali saves all of his posts offline! Still, I'll try to save as much as I can!

I'm more than a little surprised that our new avatars are still up over there.
