Announcement about RDF
Re: Announcement about RDF
Err I meant 'Month' I have no idea how Josh could moderate a moth, but I guess not very well if his skill at running a team of web volunteers is anything to go by.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

The entire Mod team appears to have just quit en-masse leaving no moderation apart from Josh for the next moth.

Topsy wrote:No answer to the above. Staff have decided that we will no longer be answering general emails or responding to reports. Apologies if this hampers your enjoyment of the forum but the team here (past and present) have worked 24/7 to keep the forum going and as their (past and present) volunteer efforts are reduced to a "thanks but we don't need you now", there's not much point in staff continuing with their forum work as it's all going to be taken down from the Internet.Topsy wrote:I'm only concerned with preserving a place for atheists, agnostics, doubters and theists to engage in rational discussion. The forum has grown from nothing to become the busiest atheist forum on the Internet so it seems to provide that place for people.
The forum staff have been willing to engage in any changes but have also been very protective of the forum. This has probably resulted in the announcement that moderator roles won't be migrated to the new site. The staff have basically been a bit bolshy on behalf of the forum (which you'd expect) and this probably hasn't been well received.
Whatever happens next, the staff will stay and try to keep things going for everyone until their staff permissions are removed.
I can't tell you what will happen to all the emails re: logging on problems etc until I have a reply to my enquiry about that.

And if the powers-that-be couldn't predict that reaction ...

Well, maybe we shouldn't be surprised. It's been clear for some time that the forum staff have been marginalised.

It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Ahem...You should, alongside your very nice welcome, let us "new -old-ones" here know how we can help out.
I didn't see where you ask for contributions when i signed in. One notices this when signing in to RDF. If you are advertising this website over there, you should make sure you have the bandwidth and resources to deal with the
tides of newcomers, although it may also "spread out"
over a few alternate websites including Thinking Aloud.
so... where's it at, the button to click?

The wonderful thing about libraries and bookstores- even the television or the radio- is that no one is forcing you to read anything, or to go to any particular movie, or to watch something on television or to listen to something on the radio. You have free choice. -Judith Krug

If there is no moderation I have an evil little part of me that would like to re-instate the notorious "fisting" thread. Maybe re-post a few LP gems on the finer arts of cock-sucking.

Feel free to do so. I, for one, surely won't do anything about it and the rest of the staff won't either.ficklefiend wrote:If there is no moderation I have an evil little part of me that would like to re-instate the notorious "fisting" thread.
