Frost/Nixon isn't a documentary though. Its a biopic of the famous interview.Gawdzilla wrote:Frost/Nixon is the only one that I know of that would come close to that. Released in 2008.Animavore wrote:No. This one actually had the politician in question being interviewed in a very frank way about his life. He was retired at this stage.leo-rcc wrote:Do you mean the movie about the Frost/Nixon interview?Animavore wrote:There's a film I'm looking for released a couple of years back I was meant to watch and forgot. It is documentary about an American politician. I guess you could say its a feature length interview. I think the politician was Republican and maybe involved in Watergate. Something Gawd said on another thread just reminded me of it.
Does anyone know the film?

More than a "couple of years ago", but yeah, that one qualifies.Animavore wrote:I think its this.

Just checked IMdb. That's the one alright.
Its actually 7 years ago. I thought about 2-4. My head's gone.

You can find the original interview online. Very interesting to watch it shortly after seeing the film - to see what liberties they took!Animavore wrote:Just watch Frost/Nixon. It was good

It was playing in 3D at the one in Indy, but the one in Noblesville is a lot closer to me. The Hamilton 16.eXcommunicate wrote:Which IMAX did you go to? Was it in Indy?FIO wrote:Finally saw Avatar. It was good, but seeing at the IMAX made it awesome.

Re: So.... Seen Any Good Movies Lately?
Just finished watching Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon (Das weisse Band.) It's German, shot in B&W, slow-paced and darkly threatening. Set shortly before WWI in a rural, German village, it is the tale of disturbing and violent events and near-feudal class structure, told through a series of recollections told by the town's young schoolteacher in later life.
Nothing is resolved, nothing is explained, but there is no real difficulty working out what is going on - it is the why that eludes you. The film has been described as an allegory for the rise of fascism but I think that is merely one layer of what is going on here.
The photography is exquisite. Apparently Haneke and his director of photography, Christian Berger, went to immense lengths to create the appearance of everything being lit by natural light - and it works beautifully, the scenes switching from washed out brightness in the high summer and snowy winter scenes, to near pitch-darkness in the nighttime interiors. You can tell Haneke is a fan of Bergman.
Thoroughly recommended if you like European, arthouse cinema. If you are eagerly awaiting Transporter 4, this is probably not for you.
